The Totally NEW Team Corwin Thread

I just had the most miserable, tedious run of Against the Demon Queen.

Specifically in Monkey, every time I pulled the lever to open the timed gate to the next section, the game lagged out. Once it cleared out enough to move again, pull the lever, and here's the lag again. Going by my hireling, I was in there for 45 minutes, at least 30 of which were spent in Monkey trying to get past a lever.
Unfortunately, I expect all their techies are focused on the new server. I doubt we're going to get any fixes beyond the weekly reboot.

I had big plans for doing nothing yesterday but the game was basically unplayable with all the disconnects I was getting. I was the only person awake at the time so there weren't any pulls on the internet besides mine. I turned Malwarebytes off completely with no effect. I tried firing up different internet pulls immediately after the crashes (Youtube, Netflix, etc) and they all ran smooth as can be so I don't think I've got router/wireless problems. I dropped power on the modem to reestablish my connection to the provider and no change. I haven't done a clean install, but that made no difference last time around.

A few years ago, this cropped up and then magically went away after a month or so. There's got to be some sort of code in certain builds of the client that just doesn't play nice with something in my laptop.
Ryzen or Intel CPU? Granted, I'm on a desktop, but I'm running a Ryzen 5 and ATi GPU, generally no troubles. Maybe it's the mobile GPU, some sort of driver conflict that you won't see on a desktop?

To be fair, I had no troubles last time I ran nVidia and Intel, but I've been partial to AMD since that AMD K6-II that replaced the old 386 back when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Mureall is TRed and at level 3, holding 4. I figure we've got 3-4 weeks before we're at 20 again and getting ready to roll back around. Mostly sticking with her Evil Ranger build as before, except going up Eladrin and doing Tempest/Scimitars instead of VKF/Tempest. I'll have to craft some trapping gear as we go along, I don't seem to have anything named, and I'm probably going to farm some on other characters later to pick up some Scimitars for later levels. Especially epic where I'm sorely lacking and will end up using Borderlands otherwise.

Intel CPU, nVidia GPU. Alienware M15. I haven't done the driver dance in a while. Maybe I'll check for updates there. Thanks for the idea.

Scimitars look even thinner than warhammers... Looking at the wiki, the Nicked out of Syndicate is actually decent and the Saltmarsh turn-in looks like about it until you get to lvl10 (Mirage and the 2 Borovia items).

I do wonder whether someone or something is eating up internet bandwith in your surroundings, dte ? That would be a way to explain the hiccups ...

Yeah, they at least have a great crit profile by default. But I'm leaning on bought weapons this life from the expansions, or crafted. Saltmarsh, Ravenloft, Myth Drannor, then the Syranian ones from Sharn if I can get the mats before 15. Otherwise I might end up crafting them or farming out a pair of Fangs of Siberys from the second Madness chain or a couple Vulkoor's Edge from one of the Rage chain quests. I did grab the two keen scimitars from Tear, which might actually be better damage than the Flamesalt.

I think Krozek's Cruelty is okay looking for Epic, though that would necessitate farming Big Top for hours. Or the Drow Scimitar of the Weaponmaster at 23, which requires farming the Underdark/Rusted Blades. Otherwise I have to get another Mirage and epify it along with the one I have.

Check for audio device updates on your laptop also. Sometimes those updates get lost on the restarts.

It could be a driver conflict with the wifi too; wifi has always been screwy for me even in Windows.

Might be worth it to test whether the crashing happens on a wired ethernet connection.

Don't think it's the internet or Malwarebytes. Did some testing there and no clues. I did the driver dance- according to Alienware's support suite, I'm fully updated. I've had several instances now where it loses connection and continues to die at "loading please wait" when I log back in, often for multiple rounds before deciding I've been punished enough.

Well I saw one person say his client crash issues stopped when he logged into a different server, then switched back to his main one. At this point it is worth a try right? lol

The Starter Pack is back and apparently a permanent addition to the store. To be honest, I didn't know it wasn't permanent.

There is also a daily gold roll going on for VIPs, so make sure to log in and get your XP stones. Skip that 1-3 grind.

The VIP reward is available in the Hall of Heros, Log in a few minutes early so you can claim it on how ever many toons you want to have it on. It's the Lightening trail, it's a feat you can toggle on and off. Purely cosmetic but I thought it looked great.

If you're having trouble getting it to show up:

It's supposed to be added as a Feat. If it doesn't show, talk to the VIP Award guy again, asking him about something else, and then claim a copy of a VIP cosmetic. You can select the Lightning Trail again if it doesn't appear on your Feat list the first time.

I remember why I hate Wheloon so much.

Instant red dungeon alerts because the devs stuffed bunches of 50-100 mobs together everywhere, and their hit points are inflated on top of that to well over what similar level content has. The loot was bad even when it released, and it's terrible now, and the XP is subpar for L16 content. It also has the problem with massive batches of breakables everywhere in the way, which on a Warlock using cone, means constant lag spikes whenever I hit one (which happens on a regular basis). And the Howlers...

I'll finish it, just to get it done and out of the way and in the spreadsheet, but it's going on the always skip pile with Necro 3. At least it's at L16, where there's plenty of much better options.

The XP on Mirror is exceptional, though. Rank plus, all by itself. Much like What Goes Up, from the Stormhorns conclusion to that same story arc.

Tried a clean install via Steam rather than directly. Maybe a little better, but still disconnects. Going to try a "Restore to default" on all the audio and video settings and see what that does beyond hurt my eyes and ears.

I talked to Fuzzy about it. He gave me some ideas on how you might see what is going on. I will have to tell you, it's too many steps I could mess up typing it here. If you are on and see me seed me a tell.
Oh and in case there is any doubt, time change here was Nov. 3 with a one hour fall back.
