The TV Series discussion thread

You haven't watched it yet? 😲 It might be a slow start but it's a great series.
I think part of me wanted to wait until it was finished so I could binge it, but yeah, I'm definitely late to the table on BCS considering how much I like Breaking Bad.

Oh and I did finish series one of From, and started immediately on the second. Even with the arrival of more victims, this second season seems a bit weak so far. Granted I'm only two episodes in so far, I'm hoping it picks up.
The new episodes show up on Prime but are for some app-subscription I don't have. The first season was on something I do have. I'm hoping when the season is over they put it on whatever service I saw the first season on.

I'm up to the fourth episode now on series two of From, and it's just....well, not working for me. This season seems more like a CW show, and I don't mean that in a positive way, far too much chatting in rooms or hallways about their bloody feelings or who's irking them at the moment. I find myself reaching for a book far too often.

On the other hand I'm really enjoying the Endeavour rewatch. Such a fine show.

I wasn't going to watch the Last of Us on TV so close to (finally) getting to play the game but we want to change TV subscription soon. Yeah, good remake, I enjoyed it. Husband enjoyed it too even though I kept annoying him by shouting "I took cover behind that shelf" and other squeaks of recognition.

Watching Succession series 4, final episode next week. I know it's not everyones cup of tea but I really like it and still compare it to an updated sweary Shakespeare. Having said that, I think this is the time to bow out rather than dragging it on forever and letting it fizzle. And we're watching a French series called Astrid, light hearted French detective duo.

@Carnifex which series of Endeavour are you up to /watching?

I dislike every single character, and next week I won't be rooting for anyone.... but I love the show. It's the show I have the toughest time waiting for. I agree completely that ending it now is the way to go. Despite the talent of all involved, I feel like there's a good chance of it feeling increasingly repetitive if they had continued. And while I dislike them all, I'm not without empathy for many of them, which might also be eroded if the show kept going.

I'm rewatching Endeavour, I've seen them all before, currently I'm on the first series, episode four. At least I believe it's either the fourth or fifth, it's the one where someone gets run over while he was at odds with some blokes over a piece of sold property. I'm about halfway through it.

Started rewatching Westworld again with a friend who's never seen it. I've seen the first two seasons multiple times and the third season once, but I've never watched the final season.

The detail to 60s/70s history is incredible, the clothes, food, music, constant smoking is so well researched. Thursday is given bloater paste sandwiches and it brought back an unpleasant fishy flavoured childhood memory. I really enjoyed the first four series but felt it lost it's way a little in later series.

@BrianOConnell I loved Severance, I think I read there will be a second series.

Oh I totally agree, the attention to detail is simply astounding! The food, drinks, clothing, vehicles, street signage as well as classic building design takes my breath away at times. Endeavour gets so much correct.

Ok, I'm up to the fifth episode of From, and I swear if this show doesn't improve by the end of this hour, I'm done with it. The non-stop yammering with no purpose between characters is beyond boring.

I watched the first 2 eps of Succession, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. It definitely did not win me over.
It feels like they're going for something similar to what would happen under a kingdom when the king is close to death and all the siblings are manipulating and backstabbing each other to grab power.
But in a modern setting. It might get tiresome if that's all this will be. Going by the title, it sure sounds like it.
Does it become anything else?

Also, there's no characters that I really like. And I'm fine with that, normally I like more complicated characters, like Don was in Mad Men. But these ones, at least 2 episodes in, do not feel very nuanced.

Nod, Better Call Saul is one of the finest shows, ever. You'll not be disappointed.
Once I heard the last season came on Netflix, I've started a run from first season of Better Call Saul all the way through to the last season of Breaking Bad.

In some ways, I actually like Better Call Saul even better then I did Breaking Bad.

Oh, and speaking of good telly shows, Mayans is back! The episode I saw last night was really good, seeing Felipe with his son, Adelita and grandson was quite touching. Nice to see the father and son making up in many ways. Hope and Letty getting along so well was unexpected yet fairly cool!

Thanks for this. I always forget about Mayans and have been meaning to start the series.

And yeah, after bailing on Endeavour, Mum has latched onto Twin Peaks for some reason. Yeah, colour me stun, the lad in me thinks mum would run screaming from this show, yet she's thoroughly enjoyed the first two episodes. I couldn't be more pleased, this is the seventh rewatch for me yet I don't think I'll ever tire of this telly show, nor the books.

Last night I went back to the second series of Endeavour by myself, as mum bowed out of that show, citing that to her it just seemed so repetitive. In any case, the first episode of the second series is simply one of my favourite hours of telly, in my opinion this is where the show really starts to hit its' proverbial stride.

Due to a suggestion from a mate, I checked out the first episode of Jupiter/s Legacy last night, which seems to be a show about superheroes and such, an older group and an upcoming one that's being trained. I liked the first episode, will watch to see where it goes from here. It did have a bit too much whinging for me, hopefully that calms down as things progress.
