Timothy Cain - Do Gamers know what they like?

Nope they sure as hell don't. I worked thirty years in the retail sector and the one fact that most businesses get wrong is the customer is always right. Newsflash they don't.

I could tell you thousands of stories about entitled consumers. :rotfl:

Gamers generally don't know what they like. Weirdly when someone sees a photomodel or a charming looking girl its very easy to immediately dismiss:
- She is not my type!

I find that what I enjoy about games has evolved over time, so what I once enjoyed is now just annoyingly repetitive. (E.g. blobbers.) I'm sure that evolutionary aspect must be true for other gamers, especially after they've been playing for a long time. Anyway, I'm not that critical a person so I can sometimes enjoy a game that gets widely panned. (Dragon Age II, for example.) The only way to know for sure is to actually play it. But that's a great thing about the game industry; eventually everything drops in price until it reaches the point where I'm willing to give it a try.
