Timothy Cain - ToEE Design Highlights

Spending XP to create magic items was one of the dumbest ideas in D&D v3.5. I think it would have been better to keep a separate tally of points that can be spent building magic items, based on XP.

When you realize you don't have it in you to develop more games, but can still exercise your Biological Talking Apparatus. Consultantship for TOW2 is prolly not the same as the famous EA Crunch.

I don't watch his videos, but I've seen that today on Blue's News:

Tim Cain Rejoins Obsidian for Mystery Project

A Cain On Games Update Video is now live with the latest from Tim Cain, the renowned game designer who's been somewhat of a content creator in recent years. Until now, at least. Tim announces he has moved back to Southern California and almost three minutes in reveals the buried lede: After being "semi-retired," he is resuming his full-time development career by rejoining Obsidian Entertainment. He does assure followers "that this channel's gonna keep going." The move to Obsidian is bound to inspire speculation about what project he is working on, but he playfully says: "Don't bother guessing, you're not going to guess right. Here's word [sic]
So second, I should point out that I am back at Obsidian. I'm their full-time employee and I'm in person, so not remote. So I'm not a contractor anymore. So this means that I'm not working at other places, although there is at least one game that I've worked on that I know is going to ship. So I don't know if it'll be next year or the year after, but a game's gonna come out that's not an Obsidian game that'll have my name in the credits 'cause I did work for it. There are other games I worked on, I'm not sure they're gonna ship. 2020 to 2025 was a weird time in the industry, and a lot of games got started, and a lot of games got cancelled. So I really don't know the status of all the games I contracted on. I also can't talk about the project I'm working on at Obsidian, just 'cause that's covered under NDA. Don't bother guessing, you're not going to guess right. I would say that I'm probably a lot less retired now than I was before? So that whole video I have on being semi-retired: I guess I'm not?
