Unworthy Lifetakes place on the fourth planet in the Solar System, one hundred thousand years ago. A technologically advanced society is on the brink of collapse due to the severe and prolonged exploitation of their planet's resources. Ul155e5 is a "clockwork" a robot who works in a factory called "the Mother". A clockworks salary consists of "cyber-bucks"which is both their currency and what keeps them alive being thatcyber-bucks are usedaschargefortheir batteries andtopurchase replacement parts. Any excess cyber-bucks a clockwork has they spend on simulations where they can escape their lives and be spirited away to a lush green planet. None of the clockworks are aware of what is produced in "the Mother" and they are too scared to ask. One day, by mistake, accident or fortune, an event occurs in the factory, which challenges the consciousness of Ul155e5 changing its life radically.
