The Sunfire and Moonshadow DLC will be released on November 7 - the Turn Based Lovers checked it out:

Vagrus - The Riven Realm: Sunfire and Moonshadow - New DLC

Delve into a new, expansive region known as the Bronze Desert; a treacherous land that is host to a burgeoning conflict between two nemesis factions: the Chimera Legion and the mysterious, desert-dwelling Ahari.
Sunfire and Moonshadow is Vagrus - The Riven Realms' first expansion and it is rife with opportunities for the taking. Expansive quests, colorful NPCs, and new, terrifying enemies await any vagrus daring enough to test their mettle. Will you take the plunge?
Thanks Couchpotato!

The base game has been on my wishlist a very long time. Has anyone here played it?
I've only played it a little. It's quite harsh. I like the way the story is told, and the overall loop, but I hate the combat. It doesn't help that there is almost no information on the mechanics. I think that we're expected to read the dev logs; it helps understand them, but there have been changes so you really need to read them all, or watch a few videos made by other people.

A game one needs to read the devlogs to play well is a game poorly made.

Yes. Love it. I played a few dozen hours in EA, and again for 65+ hours when it was released.

There are two non-negotiable things you need in order to enjoy it:

You need to like to read. The game is told mostly through text.

You need to have an interest in paying attention to logistical details. If you just pick a point on the map and head there without thought or planning, your resources will whittle away and you'll die (or be stuck somewhere with no way to not die soon). Did you ever play Sunless Seas? It's a similar thing, where you have to plan for and prepare for the routes you take, keeping your finances and resources in mind. You cannot afford to take a trip in which you don't make money.

It's not exactly like that. It's like Sunless Seas in that you have to plan ahead. If you sail out from London and try to cross the map without thinking about where you'll buy inexpensive fuel and supplies on the way, if you don't collect port reports for the income they give you when you return, that will be quickly unsustainable. Vagrus requires that kind of forethought and patience.
