Shiro Games have posted a new trailer of Wartales for Gamescom, in which they present the capital, the Great Gosenberg:

Gamescom Announcements

Hello everybody!

We're extremely happy to finally share with you all of the incredible stuff we've been preparing for Gamescom over the last few months!

We hope that you will be as excited about this news as we have been throughout development, and we can't wait to share even more details about what's to come down the line.

Let's start!

Wartales | The Great Gosenberg | Next Free Major Update

We're incredibly excited and proud to present the second free major update for Wartales, The Great Gosenberg, which will bring hours of new content and gameplay!

Gosenberg, our beautiful capital, is a marvellous place, filled with beautiful architecture, the smartest and richest minds in all of the land and host to the most gifted of artists and performers.

This historic city operates today as a central merchants hub, providing opportunities not only to the rich and powerful, but anyone who is savvy enough to dabble in the trades. Beneath the surface however, it seems there is a much more sinister side
to this seemingly idyllic city, one that has spent years waiting to be uncovered...

Gosenberg is yours to explore in Wartales this September!
Thanks Redglyph!

Massive difference you immediately spot between
Runersia -- versus -- Wartales
- - both running on Unity - -
is the 3D programmers experience. Runersia has AAA big company, experienced coders, who know what they are doing, thus they produced lightning fast Runersia on my old PC. While Wartales has inexperienced coders, who are allowing way too much unnecessary 3D content being rendered at the same time and Wartales slows down to a scrawl on same machine..

Compared to this - 14 years ago - at the console gamedev company where I worked - we had massive 3D engine optimizations on the Nintendo Wii and you could observe other developer groups doing similarly colossal optimization tricks to increase visual density, yet significantly reduce true 3D geometry to be rendered, thus very well speeding up the game.

Unfortunately, rookie teams, like Wartales' Shiro Games, don't have coders of such experience. Thus these amateurs rather rely on most gamers now having powerful PCs which can run their trash-unoptimized game code.. without difficulty by consuming a lot more processing power and eating lot more electricity than a game of this class should require..

And they are not alone. Games produced by lame programmers nowadays consume a lot more electricity than they should require if same games were coded by experienced big company people..

What is your message? People were better, the sun warmer and the water was more wet in those old times?

Beside that, good job being an 'experienced' developer and comparing a finished game with a game still in production, aka even not in alpha.
