7 Days to Die - Alpha 11 Update

by Couchpotato, 03:47

It has been a few months since the last Alpha update for 7 Days to Die, and now the developer finally has infomation on the games webpage about Alpha Update #11.

Hey Survivalists, So what the Hell is up with Alpha 11? We’ll it’s is nearing completion and we can smell the cornbread cooking over the campfire but we still have a ways to go as integrating Unity 5 has been a big job. That said, we’re getting close and if all goes well could have it out in March still. Tackling Unity 5 was well worth the effort but a few features needed to be pushed back but a lot of unexpected things have gotten in.

7 Days to Die - How to Survive the Night

by Couchpotato, 05:25

The truth is, we all like to imagine ourselves as experts in the event of the impending zombie apocalypse, but more often than not we’d all most likely succumb to the harsh and brutal conditions of this horrific flesh eating epidemic. Fortunately enough, the guys over at ‘The Fun Pimps LLC’ give us the freedom to test our zombie survival skills in their promising early access title, 7 Days To Die which in the most unsympathetic of ways, chucks you right into the deep end to fight for your right to survival in this zombie infested world.

In this article I will be giving you some quick tips on surviving your first night with little help from my embarrassing first few hours with this game.

7 Days to Die - Alpha 10 & Key Giveaway

by Couchpotato, 06:10

7 Days to Die has a new update from the games developer The Fun Pimps with information on the next Alpha update, and a new key giveaway.

Alpha 10 Status & Key Giveaway

Buenas Noches Survivalists,
I know, I know it’s about damn time somebody besides Madmole gave up some information on the status of Alpha 10 and I’m here to remedy that. But before I do I want to point you to the Steam key giveaway our good friends over at Purepings are running. So check it out now funk soul brother.

Purepings Giveaway!

And for those of you who want to know what the ‘F” is up with Alpha 10, see a few new screenshots and get the dirt on why Alpha 10 is taking so long then read on Chaka Khan:

Alpha 10 Status

So alpha 10 has been in development since like 1972 right? And those lazy Fun Pimps probably ate too much Halloween candy and are still sleeping off a Sugar Coma. Or maybe they’ve been climbing Mount Everest. Or they could be in Hawaii on a photo-shoot with the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit girls. We’ll I’m here to set your mind at ease.

The truth is since mid-September we’ve all been chained to our desks with porta potties for chairs and a nearby mini fridge of red bulls just withnin reach feverously working on our greatest masterpiece to date. Folks this is real game development and the product of blood sweat, tears and the passion of our team which I’m very proud of. Ok enough Pimp babbling here goes.

The truth is we’re getting really close to releasing A10 and if all goes well we could get the build out as early as November 15th. There are many things I’m leaving out of this but here are some of the major things you can expect barring some show stopping bugs kicking our ass.

7 Days to Die - Alpha 9.2 Released

by Couchpotato, 05:35

7 Days to Die has been updated to Alpha version 9.2, and the developer The Fun Pimps has a post on the games website with more information about the patch.

Alpha 9.2 is out with many new additions, changes and bug fixes including: Our new anti-cheat system in beta, new biome zombie spawning system, improved zombie pathing, new 7th night feral attacks, new grasslands biome formerly the plains, new high res 9mm Pistol, new large hotel location, increased zombie walk speeds, fixed shotguns death animations, fixed many locations not spawning in random gen and so much more!

We also have some more pimp news to share with you folks. This week we broke a half a million customers. So a mighty big pimp high five goes out to all the fans who have supported us from the beginning, the new fans we’ve picked up along the way and our newly converted fans who’ve seen our bright campfire light! And let’s not forget the rest of the Pimps for kicking some serious early access development ass. Tip of the Fedora goes out to Robert, Joe, Chris, Brian, Joey, Ryan, Joel, Bryan, Alex, Jan and Will. You guys rock! And a belated Pimp of the week goes out to Robert for spearheading our Alpha 9 random gen. So drop us some feedback and tell your friends and let’s keep this party rolling folks cause we’re not going to stop until we deliver the best damn zombie survival game out there!

We also just updated the dedicated server only build (appid 294420). It uses the same version number (A9.2 b14) to be compatible with the existing clients. The update was due to a change in Unity 4.5.3 that obviously handles the VBlank different then in previous version. This caused a dedi server to take full CPU time of a single core even if no user was connected. This problem should be fixed with the latest update (steam buildid 373581)

7 Days to Die - New Pricing & Alpha 7

by Couchpotato, 04:30

The Developers of 7 Days to Die  have news their lowering the Alpha price for Steam Early Access version, and talk about the next Alpha update.

The past few months we have received hundreds of comments from customers suggesting that our early access Alpha pricing is too high and not aligned with other early access products.

Our original pricing for Steam was set to be aligned with our Kickstarter Alpha access pledge folks who paid $35. Since Kickstarter, much time has passed and the pricing requests continue to pour in.

That said we feel the best thing for the customers and the future of “7 Days to Die” is to listen the people and lower the price.

Effective immediately our new single unit Alpha price is $24.99 and our Alpha 2 pack is $39.99! These prices will stay effective until Beta with the exception of possible sales and promotions along the way. We thank all of you who have supported our product so far and will strive to make it the best damn zombie game we can!

We’re also working hard on Alpha 7 which is on target to be out before the end of February. Smooth Terrain, Stealth and Cooking are confirmed features as well as a bunch of smaller fixes, improvements and features including new death options.

7 Days to Die - Review @ Eurogamer

by Couchpotato, 00:22

Eurogamer reviews the Alpha version of 7 Days to Die.

There's a line between indie and amateur, and on current evidence 7 Days to Die lands on the wrong side of it. More worrying, the loading screen boasts that future updates will bring new biomes, more locations, larger maps, forging, stealth abilities and more multiplayer modes. It would be more reassuring to hear that the developer is focusing on tidying up what's already in place rather than simply piling more stuff on top of it. It feels reckless rather than ambitious.

7 Days to Die - Happy New Year

by Couchpotato, 03:15

The developers of 7 Days to Die have a new post on Steam about a new alpha version, and wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Happy New Year Survivalist,

We’d like to thank everyone for making our migration to Steam and our first Holiday Sale an overwhelming success. We’ve been as high as number 4 in the Steam Top Sellers list and stayed in the top fifty consistently in our first 3 weeks and have consistently held a spot in or near the top ten since.

Even though we’ve done a lot of holiday celebration we’ve still found time to get some work done. The word on the street is that Alpha 6 is coming soon and that it will include a slick new metal forging system we hear is pretty freaking awesome! We’ve also heard rumors that the world is much bigger, has many new points of interest and a huge new snow biome to explore with several new snow zombies. Our source has confirmed these features and much, much more will be in Alpha 6! We can hardly wait.

7 Days to Die - Removed From Steam

by Couchpotato, 00:15

Gaming Blend has news that 7 Days to Die was pulled off Steam due to copyright infringement with some of it's art assets.

Earlier this week the open-world zombie game 7 Days To Die was pulled from Steam. Earlier today I spoke with the man responsible for the game's removal. Here's what I learned.

7 Days To Die's Steam Greenlight page was taken down due to a copyright violation. The takedown notice was filed on behalf of Tripwire Interactive, the developer of co-op shooter Killing Floor. As it turns out, 7 Days features a zombie that resembles a striking resemblance to the Clot, one of the monsters in Killing Floor.

Tom Buscaglia, the lawyer who filed the takedown notice, explained the sequence of events to me. It all started last year when someone took the Clot model from Killing Floor and began selling it on the Unity Store. 7 Days studio Fun Pimps, not realizing that this asset was stolen, purchased the model for use in their game.

Toward the end of the summer, Tripwire noticed the Clot model in a trailer for 7 Days. Vice president Alan Wilson reached out to Fun Pimps to explain that the asset belonged to them. Wilson apparently left the conversation with the understanding that Clot would be removed from 7 Days.

However, two weeks ago, Tripwire saw that the 7 Days trailer still had their character (Buscaglia attributes this to "flakiness" on Fun Pimps' part). What's more, a playable alpha build is now in the hands of players who backed the game. So, they called their lawyer.

7 Days to Die - Preview @ JumpToGamer

by Couchpotato, 01:04

JumpToGamer has a preview of 7 Days to Die that might be of interest for those that are still undecided about the game.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing 7 Days to Die, and will continue to do so. It’s a game which can be different on each play-through and allows the player freedom to explore and build whatever they want. I do wish that the Day was extended as it comes and goes in a flash, especially when you are frantically trying to repair your structure in-time for the zombie onslaught the following night. But being in Alpha I’m sure it will be tweaked and changed how they see fit. One other issue I do have with the game is that at present zombies always know your location, whether you are moving around and sat still for the whole night. Hopefully stealth and better Zombie AI will lead to this no longer being the case, but being in Alpha I won’t be too critical about it.

7 Days to Die has an extremely bright future, and I can’t wait for Alpha update 2. The potential a game like this possesses is huge, as has been shown by it’s growing popularity. With more features in development and planned, 7 Days to Die will without a doubt become one of the biggest zombie games, and is well worth the $35 it is currently available for.

7 Days to Die - Steam Key Update

by Couchpotato, 01:28

7 Days to Die has a few more updates about the Steam keys being sent out.

  • We’re still bringing data into our system and sending out keys and as of this post have delivered over 12,000 keys but we still have more work to do. Last night we increased our download capacity with 2 more servers. We will continue to send out keys until every customer who has purchased the Alpha package or greater has the game.
  • Our customer support has been flooded with emails and we are way behind on this. We will be sending out every Key before we can come back to you folks who have problems that require manual database corrections, changes to your account, account verifications or general support. Simply put we don't have the staff to answer every email at this volume.
  • People who bought more than 1 key on Kickstarter through any package other than the THE ALPHA BUDDIES or THE ALPHA CLAN packages orders may take longer as theses multiple orders need to be entered into our system by hand.
  • People who bought more than 1 key on Paypal in single transaction will get there additional keys but it may take longer as theses multiple orders need to be entered into our system by hand.
  • We appreciate your patience in this and rest assured will get all of you keys as soon as possible. We've been working overtime on this and will continue to do so until all keys are delivered.
  • And for those of you who have asked our PayPal Buy page will be back up tomorrow or Monday and stay up after Alpha release for everyone to still buy the pledges they want including Alpha. http://7daystodie.com/buy/

7 Days to Die - Zombie Survival Game

by Couchpotato, 02:06

I brought news of 7 Days to Die last month to recap it's a open world, voxel-based, sandbox game blending the best elements of FPS, Survival Horror, Tower Defense and Role Playing Games.

The developer Fun Pimps has started a kickstater to fund the project so give the game a look you might be surprised.

7 Days to Die is an open world, voxel-based, sandbox game that is a unique mash up of First Person Shooter, Survival Horror, Tower Defense and Role Playing Games combining combat, crafting, looting, mining, exploration, and character growth.

In the near future where the a third world war leaves the Earth in ruins but the worst was yet to come. Nobody knows for sure if it was the radiation, the biochemical weapons or an act of god but an unknown virus soon transforms the surviving humans into an army of the animated dead, acting as a single-minded being.

You play a survivor trapped in the savage zombie infested world of Navezgane County Arizona one of the last true Eden’s on Earth. Ironically Navezgane means “Killer of Monsters” to the Apache who have inhabited the land for centuries, and that’s pretty much what you’ll do as you fight to survive and search for the truth behind what really happened.
