ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Patch 1.04

by Redglyph, 17:14

ATOM Team has released a major patch for ATOM: Trudograd, which brings QoL improvements. Follow the link to see all the screenshots, I've only referenced a few below.

Update 1.04

Greetings, friends!

We are glad to announce that v.1.04 content update has finally been completed.

In this version, we paid the utmost attention to the quality of life updates we decided upon in earlier community posts.

Now you can finally use your own picture files to create portraits for your character, and even customize their appearance in-game. (screenshot)

Also Trudograd now supports the ATOM Cloud save transfer system, using which you can not only save progress between different versions of the game on different devices, but also transfer a character from the original ATOM RPG to Trudograd, using our cloud server instead of an actual save file. (screenshot)

Based on your suggestions, we introduced the mechanic of comparing equipment, expanded the set of icons for aimed shots, and of course added several new characters, quests and locations to the game. (screenshot)

There is still a lot of work ahead of us, for example, the creation of a ModKit, but for now we hope that you will appreciate the work we have done so far, and get enough pleasant impressions from returning to the snow-covered streets of Trudograd :)

In conclusion, we would like to thank you again for your support and wish you a pleasant game, as well as a very merry Christmas and a happy upcoming New Year. And now… Let there be ATOM!

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Review @ GameBanshee

by Redglyph, 12:27

GameBanshee has reviewed ATOM RPG: Trudograd.

ATOM RPG: Trudograd Review

ATOM RPG: Trudograd is a post-apocalyptic RPG inspired by such venerable classics as Wasteland and Fallout, but with a Soviet coat of paint. The game was originally envisioned as a standalone expansion for the similarly post-apocalyptic ATOM RPG that launched back in 2018. However, following an extended early access phase, Trudograd became more of a full-blown sequel that will take you somewhere in the vicinity of 30 hours to complete.

[...]

Conclusion

ATOM RPG: Trudograd makes a good case for looking at the forest instead of the individual trees. While some of the game's quests, characters, and lines of dialogue leave a lot to be desired, they exist side by side with great ideas, RPG mechanics, and yes, other quests that are much better.

And if you manage to not fixate on the game's shortcomings, you will more than likely be able to get lost in its weird, unique, and very much intriguing world with plenty of stories to tell. And so, in the end, I can't help but recommend the game to anyone in the mood for some Fallout-inspired adventures.

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Plans for Next Update

by Redglyph, 08:58

The ATOM Team share their plans for the next update of ATOM RPG: Trudograd, planned in December.

Plans for Trudograd’s next update

Greetings, friends!

We have thoroughly studied your feedback and ideas for the betterment of our game. And at this moment it is completely clear to us which quality of life changes we should bring into Trudograd first and foremost.

When the December update, the specific date of which we will announce a little later, comes out, our game will receive the following improvements:

  • New functionality for comparing items of the same type. For example, which weapon is better - the one equipped by the character, or the one you just picked up;
  • Optimization. We will attempt to boost FPS and load times on medium range devices which currently have some performance issues;
  • Implementation of a set of new icons for aiming at enemies, which will change depending on enemy type;
  • Expanded game log, where the reasons for each hit or miss will now be deciphered;
  • Description of damage modifiers for aimed shots;
  • Cloud saving capabilities just as in the original game;
  • The ability to set custom portraits for the character;
  • Advanced graphics, text size and interface scaling settings.

And, of course, to make it more interesting for you to replay the game and try all these improvements, we will definitely introduce additional content. You should expect at least:

  • New characters;
  • New bunker dungeon;
  • New random encounters - combat and peaceful alike;
  • Additional options for the Special Armor.

Naturally, all of the above is just what we are already working on. The support of Trudograd and our community will not cease after the upcoming update. There are still a lot of new and interesting things for us to create and for you to check out in the future!

Thank you for being with us. And let there be... ATOM!

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Release Day

by Hiddenx, 14:41

Today ATOM RPG: Trudograd will be released:

ATOM RPG: Trudograd

Please note: Since Trudograd continues the story of Atom RPG it is recommended to play the previous title before the sequel.

Trudograd is a stand-alone story expansion to Atom RPG - a turn-based roleplaying game set in post-apocalyptic Soviet Union.
It is inspired by classic cRPG titles of the past, such as early Fallout, Wasteland and Baldur’s Gate series.

22 years ago the USSR and the Western Bloc destroyed each other in a nuclear inferno. Millions died instantly, society collapsed and technology was sent back into the Middle Ages. You are a member of ATOM – an organization tasked with protecting the post-apocalyptic remnants of humanity.

Two years ago you – a rookie agent of ATOM – were sent on a dangerous mission into the Soviet Wastes. As a result, you uncovered certain information about a new threat that can potentially destroy the struggling remnants of humanity.

In Atom RPG: Trudograd your goal is to travel to a giant post-apocalyptic metropolis that withstood the tests of nuclear obliteration and social collapse. There you must find what is thought to be humanity’s last hope in fending off the menace from outer space!

Trudograd features:

  • A large city with its own lore and dozens of varying locations to fight, trade, talk and explore in;
  • A hardcore turn-based experience with huge amounts of character development paths, combat styles, skills, perks and distinctions;
  • Unique characters each with their own personality and a robust branching dialogue;
  • Multiple-solution quests, which actively change the city around you;
  • Ability to transfer your hero from our previous game (Atom RPG);
  • An easy game to pick up. While Trudograd is a continuation of the first game’s plot, it is also friendly towards new players, and will quickly fill you in on the lore and major developments you might have missed;
  • A result of a two year long community effort, made by players for players. This game encompasses a lot of changes from our previous title, that were inspired by user feedback.

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Release Date Revealed

by Redglyph, 15:56

The ATOM Team has revealed the release date of ATOM RPG: Trudograd: September 13th.

Dear friends!

Finally the moment has come when we can announce the release date for ATOM RPG: Trudograd.

This event will happen on September 13th, 2021.

Until then we will use every minute available playtesting the game, fixing bugs, checking out different PC configurations and planning for upcoming content patches.

Spending more than a year in Early Access we have once again found that you, our players, are the greatest source of motivation and inspiration. Your support means the world to us. Your critiques, ideas, advice, the help you offered in bug fixing, planning new features and perfecting mechanics, are what Trudograd would never survive without.

It is thanks to you that Trudograd, initially planned as a small DLC, grew into a game with tens of hours of content, new features, and interesting new ways to play. Original voiced text quests, new skill tree, new locations and characters, perfected balance are just a few of the things you helped us reach.

It is only natural that we wish to thank you for going above and beyond in helping us. That’s why everyone who owned Trudograd in Early Access will get a small free DLC gift called the Veteran’s Pack which will include a new uniform, a Veteran’s medal and a pretty nifty little thermos that will help you in your travels.

Thank you again for your support, trust and patience. And as always, let there be… ATOM!

See you on the release date!

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Update Version 0.9

by Hiddenx, 14:32

The Atom team released probably their last major update before the final release planned for this fall:

Greetings, friends!

As promised, today we present to you the fifth major content update for ATOM RPG: Trudograd.
In accordance with the previously published roadmap, v.0.9 gives you the ability to finish the main storyline and thus fully complete the game. Since save files will only be wiped when version 1.0 is released in autumn, you can complete your current playthrough now and see what the finale holds, without the need to start a new game.
Nevertheless, we really want to draw your attention to the fact that v.0.9 is far from the end of development, it’s still Early Access. By the time of the official release planned for autumn, the entire game, including the main storyline, will receive new editorial changes, sounds, 2D design elements, improvements to combat balance and much more. Not to mention the side content that will also be added to the rest of the game before the final release.
You can play and finish the game right now for curiosity’s sake and to see the ending, but to those of you who would like to avoid end-game spoilers and wish to enjoy the finalized, carefully crafted release version of the game, we recommend you wait for version 1.0 instead and take a bit of rest from Trudograd for the time being.

Now, some more details about the current update v.0.9: The completion of the main storyline entailed the appearance of new characters, quests, text adventures and locations, such as: Trudograd Dam, the Seventh Heaven district, the Razdor village. And, of course, we have not forgotten the existing locations, adding new quests and characters to them as well.

In addition, our team continues to work on completing and debugging game mechanics, as well as making changes to improve the gameplay. Many of them were inspired by your feedback and ideas:

  • Work was carried out to optimize and improve the interface, the character's personal file, the window for modifying special armor and weapons;
  • The system for displaying statuses has been redesigned;
  • Improved inventory filter system;
  • The quality of sounds and music has been significantly improved;
  • Skill books now work for the whole party;
  • The skill perk system (the new perks you get as you increase certain skills) has been finalized.

A complete list of changes included in the update is available below:

  • The storylines for the Revolutionaries and the Police were continued and completed;
  • Added 7 new locations (so far only with story missions);
  • Added characters and quests for existing locations (Police Station, Grey Corner, Mikhalych’s Tavern);
  • Added new types of random encounters;
  • The existing random encounters have been improved;
  • The amount of money and stock updates merchants get per day were increased;
  • Added 10 new weapon modifications;
  • Added 8 modifications for special armor;
  • Changed the balance of firearms and melee weapons;
  • Added a new unique melee weapon, available only to those with special armor;
  • Improved ballistics mechanics for firearms and crossbows;
  • Added ammunition causing the following effects: "Stun", "Burning", "Poison";
  • Fixed a number of errors that caused a system message to appear;
  • Fixed a number of bugs that caused the game to freeze;
  • Fixed bugs related to special armor;
  • Fixed a bug where the enemy could get between cells and not receive damage;
  • Now markers of temporary locations disappear after you leave the location;
  • Fixed many minor typos and bugs.

In conclusion, we would like to say that our team is very grateful to you for your support, trust, feedback, criticism, advice and recommendations. Together we have come a very long way and we are sure that there are many more interesting things ahead of us! :)

Thank you for being with us! And let there be... ATOM!

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Update Version 0.8.1

by Hiddenx, 21:05

Redglyph spotted an update for ATOM RPG: Trudograd:

April Update ver. 0.8.1

Greetings, friends!

Today we would like to introduce you to ATOM RPG: Trudograd's 4th content update!

We have added unique missions for both factions, the police and the revolutionaries; we have added new side quests and characters to already existing locations; as well as new maps and even secrets.

Based on your feedback, we are also continuing to work on combat mechanics. For example, depending on the type of encounter, your opponents will now coordinate their actions more often, creating problems for the player character not only using their overwhelming numbers or high skills and stats, but also through the ability to work in teams.

In addition, we have revised the difficulty of some story-related battles and we hope that this will have a positive impact on the gaming experience of our community.

Also, we want to show you the ballistics mechanics which are currently under development and were announced earlier. The main idea of this mechanic is that bullets and projectiles fired from firearms and crossbows can now pierce through not only the first target, but also the one behind it.

For us, this mechanic is a big step forward, so we really want to get your opinion on this innovation. And don't forget that your opponents can do everything you can! ;)

In general there are a number of additions to improve the gaming experience:

  1. Now you can safely move from point to point on the Global Map, because to enter any location you will now need to confirm your choice with the "Enter" button.
  2. Some temporary locations like the Cult Lair, etc. will receive an approximate difficulty level marker, ranging from 1 to 5 stars. The more stars, the more difficult the location and the battle on it will be. At the moment this system is static, but in the future it will hopefully be directly tied to the level of your character.
  3. We have moved the shortcut keys for the actions "Information", "Steal", "Lockpick", "Repair" and so on, following the example of the original ATOM. These actions are available on the numeric keypad using keys 1 through 4.

A complete list of changes included in the update is available below:

  • Continued storylines for the Revolutionaries and the Police;
  • Added 5 new locations;
  • Added characters and quests for existing locations (Police, Docks, Factory, Grey Corner, Mikhalych's Tavern);
  • Added several new weapon modifications;
  • Added ballistics mechanics for firearms and crossbows;
  • Fixed a number of errors that caused the console to pop out;
  • Fixed behavior of special armor in cases when it runs out of fuel;
  • Fixed a bug with transferring Hexogen’s characteristics when transferring progress from ATOM;
  • Fixed a bug that made it impossible to interact with the radio on leaving the location;
  • Fixed a bug where the player could kill Francis Liao without consequence;
  • Fixed a logic error when companions healed spiders during battle at the "Underground testing area" location;
  • Fixed a bug where companions changed their location after reloading a save;
  • Opening videos now play correctly on Windows 7;
  • Fixed a number of minor bugs.

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Road to Release

by Hiddenx, 15:44

Vanedor spotted the "Road to Release" for ATOM RPG: Trudograd:

Trudograd: Road to Release

Greetings, friends!

Since the last update, we have released a fair few patches and continued actively working on the new batch of content. Together with that, we’re trying to always be there to read your amazing feedback and cooperate on the features, fixes and changes you recommend.

All in all, we have come a very long way since the start of the Early Access, and right now we’re giving it our all to improve the already made parts of the game, and add new ones as the plot demands it.

Seeing how this is a very hard process that’s also very difficult to track, we decided to share our Roadmap with you, so that you always be able to see where we’re at in the development process.

This roadmap contains general information about the work we have already done, as well as about the features and content we’re planning for the release. It doesn’t include post-release support, because we’re never setting an expiration date on that part of development, as some of you already know.

April

We’ll start off with a big content update.

Afterwards, we’ll continue adding to the game, focusing more and more on the main plot line. New characters will appear in the Outskirts
, Grey Corner
, Factory
, Mikhalych’s Tavern
, Police
, Docks
, Kolotushkin Str.
Plus, we’re already adding the first people for the upper tier of the city.

April will also be a month we rebalance some of the weapons and skills; we’ll also continue working on visuals and soundscape.

May-June

All of our team’s strength will be used to finalize the main story line and the mechanics that are already in the game. We’ll then work on some of the yet unintroduced mechanics you asked us for, and add to some special locations we’re not willing to spoil just yet :)

After the big update planned for this time period, you will finally be able to finish the game!

The development process won’t stop there, however, since it’s not all about the main plot.

July

After finishing the main storyline in all of its forms, we will expand the roster of side quests and plot unrelated locations. We’ll set to finalize the Lighthouse, the Caves, the new bunker and we’ll add to the locations that already exist.

August

Random encounters and adventure maps will receive new additions in this part of the work process. We’ll also add a few special side quest lines and characters to the upper and lower tier locations.

September

This month will be used to stabilize and finalize the game before release. It’s the last month for finishing all major additions to the game, making the last icons, objects, sets of armor, loading screens, etc. We’ll also finalize the trade and combat balance.

IMPORTANT:
Before the release hits, we’ll have to wipe the old save files, to ensure the correct compatibility between the new and old content, as well as optimize the game’s performance.

We wish to deeply apologize for postponing the release. Our communal wish to make Trudograd a really great game brought us before new quality standards, which unfortunately ask for more resources, finances, and most importantly - time.

Although this was not an easy decision to make, we don’t want to cut the game Trudograd became and wish to tell its story to the fullest. We value your support and understanding over all else. Thank you for being with us.

And let there be ATOM!

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Hands On @ TBL

by Hiddenx, 16:39

The Turn Based Lovers checked out ATOM RPG: Trudograd:

ATOM RPG: Trudograd – Hands On!

In the past years I tried a lot of Fallout flavored indie games. There were so many of them it was almost impossible to distinguish one from another. Some of them were just a waste of time, while some others were, at best, a momentary lapse of “nostalgic pleasure”.
In no order of importance I can remember Krai Mira, Skyshine’s BEDLAM, Fallen: A2P Protocol and many more. Needless to say that none of them was able to represent a real alternative to the original Fallout.

Many times I wondered about the reason of this strange phenomenon. I mean, if between 2015 and 2019 so many developers tried to create a Fallout clone, there had to be a cause.
Now, I know that many of you may disagree with me, but I think that the “culprit” of this damned trend was Bethesda with its Fallout 4. I mean, after the release of that game (back in 2015), there were so many people disappointed by that sort of “sci-fi Skyrim”, that probably many indie developers felt compelled to fill that gap.
Mind you, I’m not saying that Fallout 4 was a bad or even an ugly game, but, at least for me, it failed to deliver what many fans of the original game asked for years. Maybe this is the reason why we’re still looking for a real heir of Fallout 2…

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Plans for 2021

by Hiddenx, 22:18

These are the plans of the AtomTeam for ATOM RPG: Trudograd:

This year’s summary and plans for 2021

Greetings, dear friends!

Soon this year will end. And what a year it was. We had our share of grief, like most. Yet it was also quite productive for our games. Here, we would like to share with you a small summary of everything we managed to do, as well as give you a brief look into our team’s future goals.

The main achievement of 2020 for us is undoubtedly the launch of ATOM RPG: Trudograd into Early Access. The game, which was planned as a small add-on to the original quickly grew due to your fair criticism, ideas and recommendations.

Due to your feedback, a lot of new mechanics were added to the game, such as area of effect attacks in melee, new throwing weapon features, special armor abilities.
We made new animations, widened the initially planned locations, made new side quests, improved on the game’s graphics and soundscape.

Of course these new features also extended Trudograd’s estimated time of arrival, since it is now a much more serious project than planned. But we are entirely sure the wait will be worth it.

Apart from that, in 2020 we continued improving our first game ATOM RPG. Listening to your wishes, we ported it to a wide variety of platforms like iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch.

We also continued our work on the original Steam version of the game, eradicating new bugs you helped us find, improving on compatibility with weaker computers, and most importantly adding new translations. It is thanks to volunteers from our community that the game has received French, Spanish, Chinese and Italian translations, with several more in the beta stage and even more to come!

Now we would like to share our plans for 2021.

First of all, we would like to mention Trudograd. The development of this game is our number one priority and it won’t even stop for Winter holidays. In the upcoming months we will show off new interesting locations and will add new characters and quests to those areas that already exist.

In the major updates that will precede Trudograd’s launch, you will get to see new regions outside the city walls, with their own unique visuals, random encounters and enemies.
You will visit Trudograd’s Hydro-Electric Plant which produces power for the city, as well as a desolate village not yet swallowed by the metropolis.

You will also be able to venture up onto the second tier of Trudograd to see how the richer people live. You will even get to reach Seventh Heaven and see the authorities of the metropolis!
Our other plans include:

Porting ATOM RPG for XBOX and PlayStation consoles, just like some of you always wanted us to do.
Making Bombagun, a mini-game some of you enjoyed in Trudograd into a standalone free app for iOS and Android.

Launching the full version of Trudograd and actively supporting it.

There is another big project planned for 2021, but it’s too early to share any details about it. As soon as design documents and first batches of concept art are ready, however, we will show and tell of everything we have conceived in this regard, and we really hope that you are going to like it! :)

In the end of this summary, we would like to wish you all a happy New Year. We really hope that you will all stay safe and healthy, as well get to have amazing holidays!

We are truly thankful for everything you did this year. Without your helpful reviews, ideas, suggestions and the way you spread information about our games, we would have achieved nothing!

Thank you for staying with us… And let there be ATOM!

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Next Big Update

by Silver, 19:08

The devs of ATOM RPG talk about what will be coming in the next big update.

Next big update announcement

Hey, guys!

Work on the next big update for the Early Access is going as planned, that’s why we decided it’s high time we announce some of our work to prepare you for what awaits in the future ;)

First off, new plot related missions are being prepared to take you to new locations and make you meet exciting new characters. New random encounters are also being added to the city map.

Old locations are getting new life. The last bit is especially true for the city docks area. There will be also plenty of new sidequests for those who want to take a break from the plot!

The characters will be revamped to new graphics standards with much more distinct facial features, and we’re not talking about portraits. The new facial detalization system is almost implemented into the game.

This new feature along with new animations will surely set the bar higher for Trudograd graphics-wise.

We really hope that these new visuals will be to your liking, and we’d love to hear your critiques on this matter.

The combat system was perfected with new features and tweaks to balance, inspired by you, our amazing community. Combat is still a work in progress, though, so some of it might change in an update or two.

And of course, this update will be the first one ever to feature the… On the other hand, let’s not ruin the surprise ;)

WIP

Stay tuned, friends. We’re thankful as ever for your unending support.

Have a spooky Samhain!

And as always… Let there be ATOM!

Thanks Couchpotato!

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Preview @ Gameffine

by Myrthos, 16:49

Gameffine (formally indianNoob) has previewed the Trudograd expansion of ATOM RPG.

Before we begin, let’s address the mutated elephant in the room. Like ATOM before it, Trudograd is in Early Access for about 6-8 months. That means that what’s on offer right now is just a fraction of what the final game will encompass. Now, I know that Early Access doesn’t have the best reputation these days thanks to STEAM’s glowing ‘quality control’ and the actions of several shady developers. I also know that most people refrain from touching EA products because they do not want to experience games in short, disjointed bits and would rather wait for the full release. That’s completely understandable and no one would blame you for skipping out on EA games, how good they may be.

While ATOM RPG Trudograd only has about 5 major locations, just over 20 sidequests and 3 main quests implemented right now, it’s in a far better place than where ATOM was when it launched on EA. AtomTeam seems to have learned a lot from their first rodeo in EA and have put all that knowledge into making this small vertical slice of Trudograd for potential buyers. Visually, Trudograd looks slightly better, especially at night times. There are lots of QoL features. The translation has improved a lot. It’s less buggy. The inventory and journal systems aren’t a mess anymore and quests and characters are more interesting and varied so far. Overall, there seems to be a noticeable improvement in the coat of polish applied. The devs are also very active in STEAM discussions and are openly taking complaints and feedback there. I think it’s safe to assume that Trudograd will come out better and more refined than ATOM ever did.

ATOM RPG: Trudograd - Available Now in Early Access

by Silver, 22:52

ATOM RPG: Trudograd is now available in Early Access on Steam and GOG.

loading...

Please note
: Since Trudograd continues the story of Atom RPG it is recommended to play the previous title before the sequel.

  • A large city with its own lore and dozens of varying locations to fight, trade, talk and explore in;
  • A hardcore turn-based experience with huge amounts of character development paths, combat styles, skills, perks and distinctions;
  • Unique characters each with their own personality and a robust branching dialogue;
  • Multiple-solution quests, which actively change the city around you;
  • Ability to transfer your hero from our previous game (Atom RPG);
  • An easy game to pick up. While Trudograd is a continuation of the first game’s plot, it is also friendly towards new players, and will quickly fill you in on the lore and major developments you might have missed;
  • A result of a two year long community effort, made by players for players. This game encompasses a lot of changes from our previous title, that were inspired by user feedback.

We really hope you will enjoy Atom RPG: Trudograd!
