RPGWatch Feature - Bloodlust: Shadowhunter Review

by Myrthos, 22:52

Playing as a vampire, Forgottenlor dived into the Bloodlust: Shadowhunter world and surfaced with a review of the game.

As with the skill system, Bloodlust: Shadowhunter has a really interesting and deceptively complex loot system. Of course there are the standard weapons, armour, and accessories, identification scrolls, recall stones and gems for sockets, which are all typical of these types of action RPGs.  There are also ingredients for alchemy, lockpicks, and safe cracking drill bits that are important for skills. In addition you find flashlights without which you can't see much (at least initially), tickets for the pawnshops, maps of some of the important surface locations in the game and calling cards for a special shop which lets you improve skills or buy maps. In addition there are talent stones, which helps unlock minor bonuses (there is also a chance you get one of these at each level up, depending on your intelligence attribute. There are also monkey stones. If you find a monkey statue in a dungeon and insert two monkey stones into its eyes you can drop ten or more levels deeper into a dungeons, which increases the danger, but also the chance to find really good loot. You also find keys, which are great, because almost every dungeon has locked doors behind which there usually are containers with more treasures.

Bloodlust: Shadowhunter - Patch Feedback

by Couchpotato, 05:25

WRF Studios is asking feedback for a new Bloodlust: Shadowhunter patch on Steam.

I made some major adjustments to the Enhancements in version 1.4.0B. I did this because it's pretty crazy having 22 enhancements on one piece of equipment since there's less need to trade off for other equipment to get the perfect set of items for a highest combined amount of resisance, max attack, etc. since you can pretty much find one piece of equipment with everything you need on it.

Please Let me know if this is going to be fun for most players since I know most people probably wont play hundreds of hours so it might be more fun to simply find OP equipment and play for 50 hours rather than have to search for the good stuff at 100+ subfloors.

Bloodlust - What Exactly is The Game?

by Couchpotato, 05:19

WRF Studios posted a new update on Steam about,"What Exactly is Bloodlust?".

Hello Everyone... Thanks for taking a look at Bloodlust.

I know some people might be hoping Bloodlust is the un-official sequel to another popular vampire rpg... However those are some pretty big boots to fill considering that game was done by a good-size team with a large budget, etc.

Bloodlust is small indie "Dungeon Crawler" style game made mostly by one person (me).

I wanted to create a dungeon crawler but rather than use the typical medieval characters normally found in these type of games - I thought I would try something different... with dark kindred lore and features not normally found in this style of game, such as allowing players to sire a family through their embrace, while growing in bloodline and building reputation with factions, unbeknownst where your true loyality lies.

Bloodlust allows you to grow into a powerful vampire as you increase attributes, talents and skills, while exploring a labrynth of passages, dungeons, caves and sewers deep beneath a dark city run by several different rival vampire factions.

If you enjoy dungeon crawlers you may want to give Bloodlust a try.

RPGWatch Article - Bloodlust: Shadowhunter - First Look

by Myrthos, 16:55

NyxVampiria checked out the demo of Bloodlust: Shadowhunter and sent us an article detailing what she thought of that demo.

Here is a bit on character creation:

I'm sure some are going to love this and some are going to hate this, but building a character can be manipulated by random rolls (feeling nostalgic, anyone?). This means you can do various rolls until you get starting stats that would be more powerful - this includes attributes, health, stamina, and class bonuses to main attributes and clan reputation. What stats you choose can also have an impact on various events in the game. Persuasion is very useful in the way that it can open up stores with npc's that normally would not trade with you, you can persuade npc's into giving you useful items or even quest items. If you choose to go with intelligence you will be able to read books that can further improve stats and give you a higher chance of getting valuable talent points when leveling up. These talent points can be used for the talents in your talent tree that is randomly generated for each character and only becomes visible after you have created your character. The talents do not seem necessary to succeed in Bloodlust: Shadowhunter but appear to be a means to reward more intelligence based characters allowing a different way of playing.
