In our second Elminage Gothic review, Fluent shares his opinion on the game and concludes it is one of the best games in its genre. As it happens not everybody in the RPGWatch team agrees, but a review is a personal opinion and not a community effort.

As you explore the maze-like dungeons, the game places a heavy emphasis on figuring out things yourself and forcing you to pay attention to your surroundings. Since you only have so many maps that you can carry, you will have to manually explore the dungeon, learning it's intricacies and getting a lay of the land, only using your maps sparingly. The game makes you develop a strong sense of direction, because if you get turned around and start burning through maps, you will once again be in a lot of trouble. Managing the maps and learning the exploration system in the game is imperative to making progress. The game again gets easier in this regard when you get teleportation magic and are able to freely move through the dungeon at your leisure, entering and leaving to re-supply. But be warned; your characters age, so all that time you spent going back and forth to town could come back to haunt you much later.

Hello everyone! In today's video, I take a look at the hardcore dungeon-crawler RPG, Elminage Gothic, and give my thoughts and opinions on the game in the form of an "off the top my head" review! It is unscripted (and it probably shows!), but I hope it gives you guys an idea of what to expect from the game, as well as giving you my official Fluent opinion on it! :)

I also play the game while talking, which is a compromise between capturing raw game footage and talking over it. Let me know what you think of this technique and if I should continue it for future reviews!

I mainly show off the leveling up process in this video, as well as the buying and selling aspects of the game, how to manage items and using the intuitive controls and inventory features! It may look pretty clunky, but once you get used to the control layout it is quite efficient and nice to use!

Forgottenlor explores Elminage Gothic, in all its unique and often frustrating wonder.

Have you ever gotten whole walnuts in their shells? Have you ever had to crack them? If you've had that dubious honor, then you've come across that one walnut shell that doesn't want to be cracked. You squeeze with all your might. You shift its position in the nutcracker. Finally the walnut explodes. Shell and nut fly everywhere. The nut inside is excellent, but somehow you wonder if it was worth the effort. Elminage Gothic is that nut. Many won't understand why people would take the trouble to play it, while others will consider the trouble validated by the results.

Hardcore Games posted a new review for Elminage Gothic, and awarded the game with a final score of 40/100. Here is a small sample of the review for why the score is low.

Overall, the creative monsters, dungeon crawl theme, and general art styles reminded me of a Dungeons and Dragons handbook, but as I played, it turned out to be one of the D&D editions that required pages of errata, and half a dozen house rules to be any fun.

Chalgyr's Game Room has another review this week this time for Elminage Gothic. The site awared the game a final score of 7.5, and simply calls it a good game.

Elminage Gothic is a great throwback to a style of game I grew up on and loved over the years. However, it is not for everyone and there are undoubtedly players who wish that true dungeon crawling games would die off completely. I for one am glad they are still around, and while Elminage Gothic could do a bit more to polish the edges here and there, the core game is very appealing to me personally.

Starfish SD posted a short list if Known issues & workarounds for Elminage Gothic.

To keep things as simple as possible we will use this thread to track the problems people are having and ways to get around them if possible while we look into more permanent fixes.

• Crash when changing resolution or windowed/full screen mode: This does not seem to happen to everyone, to help us narrow it down and fix the problem please email support@ghostlight.uk.com with your dxdiag if you have the problem. In the meantime you should be able to adjust these settings in the .ini file. To do this open the Elminage.ini file (that you will find in the games install folder) in notepad and change the Width and Height to your desired resolution, then change FullScreen to your preferred setting (=0 for windowed or =1 for fullscreen), then save the file and boot the game again. We belive we have fixed this isssue with a patch, please let us know if you are still encountering it.

It seems the pre-order DLC does not show up in the game also.

We apologise to everyone that made the pre-purchase for Elminage. We are trying to fix the DLC problem and hopefully it will be fixed soon.
