THE KAPAKU

Endless Legend: Inferno introduces a brand new Faction to the game: the Kapaku. Forced to leave their volcanic home planet, the Kapaku lands on Auriga with the firm intention to create a paradise of ash and fire...

Kapaku are native to volcanic terrain: they gain strong unit buffs while on volcanic tiles and have productions perks that reward them for settling on volcanic regions. Their gameplay focuses on leveraging these perks to field large armies with quality gear, or teching quickly into wonders and deeds. Although they rely heavily on this rare type of terrain, they wield the incredible power of "Lavaformation", allowing them to change any terrain into Volcanic Tiles permanently. While they may be strangers to Auriga, the Kapaku always have the Home Turf advantage!

A crafty species of tinkers and inventors, the small Kapaku rely on their powerful Golems to do their heavy lifting. Hailing from a volcanic world ravaged by Sowers, they can exploit the new terrain much better than any other faction, although they require large amounts of strategic resources to use their abilities to their fullest. They possess unique knowledge of the Dust Eclipses, granted by the Endless themselves.

DUST ECLIPSES

As the skies darken and the atmosphere becomes thick with dust, dormant powers awaken in the denizens of Auriga, giving each faction new powers or improving their existing capacities to terrifying new levels. This same dust infusion creates short-lived "Dust Confluxes" all over the map, bestowing a temporary boon to whatever army reaches them first - as it triggers new weather patterns and stirs old unsettling sights from Auriga's long-lost past!

NEW VOLCANIC TERRAIN

Lava Terrain is inhospitable, but what it lacks in food it more than makes up for in industry, science or dust. It is a rough starting position for most species, but if leveraged properly it can quickly turn middling cities into powerful production centers. Along with this new savage lands, we are also adding new "Volcanic Anomalies" providing even more incentives to venture into these barren hellscapes.

In addition to the new tiles and the "Volcanic" terrain type, volcanic biomes also contain active volcanoes that spew rivers of hot, hot lava! Although they don't add any food, the free energy from these rivers adds to the industry output of the tiles.

Gamewatcher reports that Endless Legend will get a new expansion called Inferno.

Amplitude Studios have just announced that they'll be closing shop for the next 10 days, as they head early into their annual summer break. This, however, they decided to do with a little more pizzaz than most would choose to, as they not only noted that they've got two unannounced projects being tested in closed beta (both coming along nicely), but that there's also yet another Endless Legend expansion in the works!

Titled Endless Legend: Inferno, there is literally nothing known about this expansion at all, but it's exciting news to be sure!

The Shifters expansion of Endless Legend comes with a new faction on April 7: The Allayi

Endless Legend: Shifters also adds a new faction, the Allayi.

The Allayi are few in number and have an intrinsic relationship with the Pearls of Auriga. Shifting with the seasons from friendly neighbours to enraged raiders, in the right hands the Allayi can prove extraordinary opponents.

If you fire up Endless Legend, Endless Space, and/or Dungeon of the Endless any time before the 25th, you can receive an exclusive hero in each game, just for starting a new game.

Amplitude Studios is celebrating its fifth birthday with its second annual Endless Day: a day that lasts from 21 to 25 January, and that offers up rare heroes and achievements to people who play their games during this time, and who fulfil various conditions. That stuff is detailed here, and includes a trio of heroes simply for starting new games of Endless Space, Endless Legend, and Dungeon of the Endless. You can also bag some time-limited achievements, though these will require a mite more effort.

(Amplitude hints here that you might be able to get these things after January 25, perhaps by mucking about with the time settings on your computer.)

During a celebratory livestream, Amplitude also announced a new expansion for Endless Legend titled Shifters. Ampz sez "this expansion will include a new Major Faction called The Allayi. This new civilization will be able to ‘shift’ during long winters", a fine alternative to sticking the heating on and hugging a hot water bottle, I reckon. Meanwhile, "all factions will also be able to collect a new resource called the ‘Pearls of Auriga’, enabling them to unlock new powers through the ‘Altar of Auriga’ and modify the upcoming winters’ impact". Good on them.

Today, we're showing you exclusively some of the awesome artwork produced by our Art team for The Lost Tales, an additional content pack that will bring more than 20 new quests (heck yeah!) around the minor faction of Auriga's lore. Amplitude Studios, developers and publishers of Endless Space, Endless Legend, and Dungeon of the Endless, have announced a special celebration of their fourth anniversary:  Endless Day.  Starting today, January 21st, Amplitude will be hosting streams, Twitter giveaways, and other public events.  They are also making the Vaulters race in Endless Space available to all and inserting mysterious new Endless Day events and content into all three games.  Apparently, these involve new heroes and new quests and can permanently unlock new content in these games.  However, these events will only be playable through January 25th, so, if you want to celebrate Endless Day, it's time to get a move on!

Endless Legend's first addon will roll out next week, and it's free.

Endless Legend, as you might expect given the name, isn’t quite done yet. A second free add-on has just been announced. It’s called Visions of the Unseen and the first details are below.

The expansion is out next week but its full contents are yet to be revealed. What we do know is that there will be ten new side quests and that quest weapons have been overhauled, with funky special effects. From what I can gather, this means that your magical doohickeys will now have colourful lightning crackling around them, making them easier to identify from a distance and allowing you to adopt rad poses while conquering the world.

...As well as expanding Endless Legend, Amplitude are releasing an update for Endless Space and there should be more information about what exactly that entails at the dev blog later today.

What's it like to visit the world of Endless Legend? Aubrielle takes a closer look.

Fantasy fans looking for a something new in a fresh, inspired world will find their prize in Endless Legend.  It will also appeal to sci-fi fans as well, since the Endless universe is, at its core, an incredibly rich work of science fiction.  The real winners here are 4x strategy fans, since the game brings something new and bold to the table without ever cloning other games.

Endless Legend is an all-around fresh take, and promises to remain timeless by doing one simple thing - coming onto the scene with its own distinct, unique identity.  And it will leave a permanent mark on the 4x strategy genre.
