Kickstarter: One Week Left! Support Hawthorn Today!

Hawthorn’s Kickstarter has come a long way in three short weeks! We’ve not only reached our initial funding goal, but have also unlocked three more goals! With your 
support, we will now be adding:

• Tameable Hummingbird pets
• Foundational gameplay for Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall
• A main story chapter: “Hawthorn House”

We’re overwhelmed by the momentum so far, but the journey is not over yet! There is one week left to the current campaign! We warmly invite all our followers to continue sharing the Kickstarter with your friends, family, and fellow adventurers. There’s still time to make Hawthorn even bigger, including our upcoming “mystery” gameplay goal, and after that, our much-anticipated housing and building system!

Meanwhile, our little team is hard at work preparing some exciting announcements we hope to share in the coming week. Stay tuned!

In other exciting news, Hawthorn is officially taking part in Steam’s Cozy & Family Friendly Games Celebration 2025 as an Upcoming Game! This event starts on Steam today and runs through June 2nd, showcasing a lot of great games and discounts.

The Game

The golden age of anthropomorphic fantasy is reborn with Hawthorn...

Hawthorn is a sandbox roleplaying video game in a world inspired by Victorian-era fairytales and fantasy adventure stories with memorable woodland creatures being developed by a small team of former developers from BioWare and Bethesda Games including the Lead Designer from Skyrim. 

This game will be fully playable singleplayer, but is also a co-op game for friends, couples, and families who want to play together in an immersive world, but may have differing tastes in gameplay. 

You get to choose how to play Hawthorn. Start by creating your favorite woodland animal character, a small creature in a big world, each species with its own unique abilities. Then choose whether to focus on village life, adventure, or both!

Hawthorn

Hawthorn is a charming co-op sandbox RPG sim video game that is inspired by Victorian-era European fairy tales and the spirit of 80s and 90s adventure stories with anthropomorphic animals. It's been described as "Skyrim meets Stardew Valley" by early playtesters and media outlets when we announced the game in October.

This is particularly exciting because our team at NEARstudios has the experience to bring Hawthorn to life after working at Bethesda Game Studios, BioWare, and Naughty Dog on franchises like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Starfield, The Last of Us, Uncharted, Ultima Online, and many more. Our comfort zone is in building sandbox RPGs with compelling narratives and Hawthorn will benefit from that experience, but we are also looking to create something a little different and experiment a bit along side our growing community.
