State of Decay - Year One Edition Released

by Couchpotato, 06:33

Undead Labs released a new edition of Dead State called the Year One Edition.

State of Decay, along with major Add-Ons Breakdown and Lifeline, is now fully remastered in stunning 1080p. New missions, weapons, and extra content, along with improved lighting, textures, animations and combat mechanics, will pull you even deeper into the post-outbreak world. How will you survive the zombie apocalypse?

New Missions

Mysterious supply crates start dropping into remote areas across the map, attracting massive hordes of zombies. Wipe out the infestation and you can grab some of the rarest and most powerful equipment seen in State of Decay.

New Survivors

Your favorite characters from Lifeline can now be unlocked in Breakdown, including the previously unplayable Kelly “Sasquatch” Eldridge.

New Vehicles

Not only do players get a brand-new SUV, but custom vehicle skins are also distributed across all maps for greater personalization.

New Weapons: Under-Barrel Grenade Launchers and Incendiary Shotguns
Find new assault rifles equipped with under-barrel grenade launcher attachments as well as shotguns that fire incendiary rounds.

Make your stand against the collapse of society in the ultimate zombie survival-fantasy game. Explore an open world full of dangers and opportunities that respond to your every decision. Recruit a community of playable survivors, each with their own unique skills and talents. Design and fortify your base against the relentless hordes of the undead. Perform daring raids for food and ammunition, and do whatever it takes to live another day.

State of Decay - Sells Two Million

by Couchpotato, 05:05

GamesReviews has news that State of Decay has sold two million copies.

Zombie survival title State of Decay has sold two million copies across both Steam and Xbox Live. Although it’s been out for quite some time, re-releases and sales prove that it’s still lurching slowly forwards.

Indie games aren’t always successful, but games like State of Decay proves that it can happen. Take a decent idea, make it work, build a fanbase and, with a little luck, you can sell two million copies across two platforms. The Steam release has helped boost things along and, as with all PC games, is bound to have a long tail as the title becomes increasingly cheap over time.

More than that though, these two million sales are without DLC included. While the exact details of extra content sales hasn’t been released, you can presume that that would add another decent chunk of sales to the overall picture.

Things aren’t quite over yet, either. State of Decay will be coming to Xbox One in the coming months, adding yet another platform to the two already previously released. While another millions sales might be pushing it on Xbox One, across the three platforms it’s very possible that we’ll see three or maybe even four million units sold this time next year, thanks to the Christmas and Summer Steam sales and that pesky need to have everything looking as pretty as possible.

State of Decay - Year One Survival Edition

by Couchpotato, 04:24

Undead Labs announce a new Year One Survival Edition of State of Decay that will be released for PC , and Xbox One. It's supposed to have more content & features.

Man, it felt good to write that. There’s a huge difference between “We think it’s a good idea and we’re seriously considering it”, and “Hell yes, we’re working hard on it right now.” It’s generally a good idea to wait until you can say “hell yes”, because until then, Things Can Change, but we’ve crossed that threshold for State of Decay on Xbox One.

State of Decay is coming to Xbox One via the State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition. While we’re still very much in development, here’s what I can tell you today.

First, we’re remastering the game in glorious 1080p, with sharper textures, a refined user interface, and more environment detail. We’re also taking advantage of the more powerful hardware by remastering and adding new environment effects, and increasing the fidelity and smoothness of character and zombie animations throughout the game. And along with these visual enhancements, we’ll ensure the game runs at a rock-solid frame rate and polish out a few glitches along the way.

Next, we’re creating some new content — not an entire DLC’s worth, but a few cool new mission types, new weapons, vehicles, and perhaps a hero or two. We’ll also be making some of your favorite characters from Lifeline (yes, Sasquatch) available as playable characters in Breakdown, and taking some of the new base options from Lifeline and making them available in Breakdown and the core State of Decay game. And then we’ll throw in half an hour of new music from State of Decay composer Jesper Kyd.

Finally, we’re bundling both Breakdown and Lifeline DLC releases into the game to create the ultimate State of Decay experience.

State of Decay - Impression @ Horrible Night

by Couchpotato, 00:07

A site called Horrible Night gives there opinion on the early access build of State of Decay.

It’s been quite some time since a game has made opting out of a good night’s sleep seem reasonable. It’s definitely a testament to State of Decay, but may also be either a good or bad sign for me. On the one hand, zombies aren’t going to attack anytime soon and my time may be better spent resting and preparing for the future, as in the real world future. On the other, maybe I am well equipped for a zombie disaster despite not having a ton of useful skills to offer outside of organizational leadership.

State of Decay - Impression@ RPS

by Couchpotato, 00:23

Rock, Paper, Shotgun gives their opinion about State of Decay in this new article

State of Decay was the only reason I regretted jettisoning my Xbox 360. When it came out, I read glowing reviews and believed it might be the open world survival game that so many were waiting for. Now it’s on PC, albeit without proper mouse and keyboard support. I’ve only played for around six hours, but seeing the game riding high on Steam’s best-seller’s list inspired me to write down some impressions. It’s certainly a game I was eager to play but now that I have, I’m not particularly keen to continue..
