Guild Wars - Eye of the North Preview @ GameSpy

by Dhruin, 2007-06-27 01:17:34

GameSpy has kicked up a preview of Guild Wars: Eye of the North, with input from ArenaNet's Ben Miller:

"One of the things we're most excited about is the chance to explore the Charr," Miller said. Most players' experience of the Charr (a race of beast-men antagonists who annihilate the human nation of Ascalon in the first game) has been as a monolithic wall of hostile theocratic zealots in service to their gods. When the Titans the Charr worship turn out to be all-too-mortal and fall to the players at the end of Prophecies, this throws the race into chaos. The Shaman caste, long accustomed to being at the top of the Charr food chain, were rocked when legions of Charr apostates broke away from the control of the clerisy. While the Shamen quickly reasserted control, Charr society has never fully recovered. Now the Shamen must watch for dissension in their own ranks even as they prosecute their war against the ruined kingdom of Ascalon. "The Charr are still incredibly vicious," Miller said. "Eye of the North will let people see them from a new perspective, though. They'll be able to get a chance to understand better how the Charr view themselves."
