Might & Magic X - The End of a Chapter

by Couchpotato, 2014-06-19 06:15:41

Limbic Entertainment has posted the final update for Might & Magic X, and it's not good news. They announce the game will not be supported anymore.

MMX, The End of a Chapter.

We’ve gone through a great deal together over the past year: the surprise announcement of "Might & Magic X – Legacy" at Pax East in March 2013; the subsequent launch of the OpenDev blog; the Early Access release; and finally, the official launch in January 2014.

Thanks to you and your support, we achieved way more than we could have done alone. Therefore, the team would like to truly thank you, and use this as an opportunity to look back on everything we came through together.

First of all, thank you for your contributions! The OpenDev blog now contains more than 150 articles, 4000 comments and 6000 vote ballots!
And we hope we managed to share our passion for Might & Magic and this project through this blog. It was particularly close to our hearts. We enjoyed sharing by posting articles on game mechanics, gameplay features, level design and more, but also by experiencing exciting moments with you on devchats or in twitch sessions.

We have to admit that it’s not always easy to unveil lots of information on a project that is still in the making. We learned a lot during the Open Dev phase, and we will put that knowledge to good use in our future projects.

Secondly, thank you for your passion. Indeed, twelve years after the release of the last installment we took a gamble with this “Old School” project, but we quickly realized that you were standing right behind us, encouraging us, and sharing your expectations and apprehensions.

This website was a unique opportunity for us. We had the chance to present you additional information about the game, and we were delighted to see that you were interested in what we were doing and wanted to know more…

Finally, we wanted to thank you for your help. Indeed, the feedback we received during the OpenDev and Early Access phases really helped us to identify our priorities, reinforce our motivation, and above all, improve the game. Moreover, many of you supported us with pre-orders and by recommending MMX to friends & other communities.

However, even the best things come to an end eventually… Today we announce the end of the Might & Magic X – Legacy project. Indeed, the development team is now switching to exciting new projects. It’s painful for all of us to say goodbye to MMX, but rest assured you will hear about Might & Magic again soon.

No further updates are planned for the game or the website but we will continue to monitor the OpenDev blog and the forums, so you can be sure we’re still reading your comments! Indeed, today we would like to leave you the virtual keys so you can record all the amazing things you achieved. If you would like to share any information about the game, unofficial patches, workarounds, mods etc. please let us know in the comments.

The quest for the Agyn Peninsula is now over, companions. We shared great moments and achievements; and it was a real honor to fight by your side. We are leaving Karthal, our hearts full of pride from this successful mission to prevent the return of darkness. Until next time, adventurers--our journey in the world of Ashan is not yet over.
