Chrono Trigger-Inspired JRPG Threads Of Time shows itself during Humble Games Showcase

One of the most intriguing JRPGs I’m keeping a close eye on is Threads of Time. A time-travel-driven RPG that instantly brings to mind the legendary Chrono Trigger from Square.

Developed by Riyo Games and published by Humble Games, the title was recently showcased with new footage, mostly animated sequences. Among them, we got an introduction to one of the playable characters, the treasure hunter Barza. Alongside the animated clips, there were also brief glimpses of exploration, the game world, and the combat system.

Threads of Time is an ambitious turn-based RPG inspired by classic JRPGs; the game takes players on a journey across different historical eras, from prehistoric landscapes to futuristic cities. Assembling a team of heroes from various time periods, players must unravel a sinister plot that threatens the past, present, and future.

The game features dynamic turn-based battles where players can chain powerful attacks, manipulate time, and execute devastating team combos. It blends 2D pixel art with Unreal Engine 5-powered environments, creating a striking fusion of retro charm and modern visuals. Though the release date remains unannounced, the game has already gained significant attention, amassing over 100,000 wishlists on Steam.
