by RPGWatch, 2020-03-02

Here is the top 50 of the Game of the Decade voting for the decade of 2010-2019 as voted by our members.

First Place: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Ranking at the top is The Witcher 3, which also won the Game of the Year award in 2015.

The Witcher 3 has been improved upon in the add-ons that became available after the game was released. The result not only reminded us exactly how an RPG should be made, and what we want in one, but it's shown us what CDPR can do in an open-world setting. In other words, it's exactly what we asked for, and hopefully it can be translated into a new Game of the Decade candidate in Cyberpunk 2077.

Second Place: Divinity: Original Sin 2, Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Skyrim

A total of three games ended at a second place

Divinity Original Sin 2 was Game of the Year in 2017 and like The Witcher 3, it has won awards by the wagon load from all manner of gaming websites and magazines. The visuals, the art, the voice overs and the soundtrack are all of very high quality and what they've learned will hopefully also bring us a new Baldur's Gate game contending with CDPR for a game in the next Game of the Decade.

In 2018 the isometric role-playing game Pathfinder: Kingmaker was Game of the Year. Although a buggy release, the game has improved a lot and is the closest thing to a modern Baldur's Gate with some kingdom management in it as well. The game features great character creation, challenging RTwP-combat, interesting party members, a good story with many choices and consequences. With a new game coming, the future looks good for those who liked Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

Skyrim won Game of the Year in 2011. For so many, the sheer enormity of content in a huge open world is utterly compelling. They aren't perfect but like no other games, the Elder Scrolls games allow players to live in a fantasy world and it comes with plenty of mods to continue playing the game, probably until a next game will be released in the Elder Scrolls series.
