EVIL HAS A NEW FACE. WELL FOUR FACES, ACTUALLY. BUT WHO WEARS THE EVILIST? ER, EVILER? YOU DECIDE!

Thursday 23rd April (2pm UK) - Are you sick of RPGs casting you as a valiant bore? Do you need a fresh breath of putrid air in fantasy Action RPG gaming? Then it’s time to thank the dark Gods; everyone’s favourite pantomime of gaming evil has returned!  After six years of scheming away in their darkest dungeons, the Codemasters development Minions have hatched their most diabolical gaming experience yet – Overlord: Fellowship of Evil, invading PlayStation® 4 computer entertainment system; Xbox One and the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC in 2015.

Boasting a devilishly good script written by the original’s award-winning scriptwriter Rhianna Pratchett, Overlord: Fellowship of Evil gives players a brand new, darkly comic quest to embark upon.

With the last true Overlord deceased, gamers take up the role of one of four Netherghūls. These brand new, suitably nefarious additions to the series are undead servants of the dark arts, determined to bring evil back to a world overrun by the forces of good.

But where’s the fun in smiting fools alone? Join the Fellowship, grab three of your most devious friends - locally or online - and gleefully unleash a wave of delightful destruction across the land. For the Master!

Are you the type of ne’er-do-well who thinks that friends are the disgusting product of weak-minded goody-goodies? Fear not! You can always choose to screw them over too - evil never plays by the rules!

They also released a new video developer diary this week.

Codemasters - Bring MMO Development In House

by Woges, 16:26

GameIndustry.com are starting up their MMO week with a piece on Codemasters.

"It's one of the toughest areas of the videogames business. It's the hardest space in which to make games, you see some really big, high-profile games that don't end up coming out, there's huge risks involved.

"The model that we took initially was licensing games – we will get into development eventually – but we did licensing so we could manage the risk and learn more about the business," he revealed.

"Recently we've seen a couple of really nasty failures in the MMO space, whether the message wasn't right or the quality of the game wasn't there, because it's an extremely competitive market."

Codemasters - Interview @ RPG Vault

by Asbjoern, 14:36

RPG Vault has interviewed staff from the MMO division of Codemasters about their upcoming Codemasters Connect 2008 fan event in Birmingham, England.

Jonric: When and how did the idea to hold a community event first arise? What was the process leading to the decision to go ahead?

Ed Relf:
We've always wanted to give something back to the community, and in fact, had the original idea over a year ago, just after our COG LIVE global press-only event, which was a huge success. As we were in the full throes of launching LOTRO at the time, we didn't have the bandwidth to plough resources into organizing an event of this scale, so we put it on hold.

Their four current MMORPGs and Jumpgate Evolution, which is in development, will be covered at the event.
