Aye. I had a couple of years between viewings but even so -There was just no point in watching it after seeing the original so recently. It's almost a shot for shot copy. Also, while I usually like John C Reilly and Tim Roth, they both seemed pretty uninspired in this.
I thought while the original was slowly building up to become an exceedingly creepy and dreadful experience, the remake felt like a generic drama. In particular I was disappointed by the elevator scene. In the original it was a dramatic, neck-hair raising culmination and revelation. In the remake this scene fell flat and felt more like, I don't know - not that horrible? Like, "yeah, sorry you had to go through all that. Let me help." <ending credits>
