Obsidian posted the second preview video of the Making of PoE Documentary.

As a bonus thanks to azarhal we have a video from RPS that shows the first hour of the game . So consider this fair warning, and only watch it if you don't mind spoilers.

More Spoilers will be released in the coming days so please pay attention to the my news-bits. I will try to warn everyone when possible, and apologize if I miss any.

More information.

I know. I've got vacation Friday-Monday but it is also my wife's birthday weekend. We've booked a room at one of the local casino resorts, so a good portion of my weekend will be shot entertaining my wife and her twin sister.

Could't help but notice, near the end of that demo video, one of the party members had a clear path through some traps, but for some reason veered off to the left and triggered a nasty trap. Hopefully the pathing will be better, but in that situation I'm guessing most everyone would have "led" the team members one space at a time.

Otherwise, it looks really great.

Pathfinding sucks, Fargol, so navigating trap areas is key.

In fact, I'd be so bold as to suggest that companions will walk into a trap even if it is somewhat out of line from where you moved them. If you try to set them to walk a long distance in a straight line and it comes anywhere near a trap, they'll walk right over to it and trigger :)

It was just a little jarring to watch that character, for no good reason, veer off into the trap. Maybe he had a death wish? :)

But I recall in BG, BG2, etc. I had to individually hold their hands at times and walk each of them specifically to where I wanted them to go; otherwise one or two of them would take a different route (likely because the path ahead was momentarily blocked by other team members) and wind up aggro'ing a pile of bad guys.

Yes, pathfinding wasn't great in BG, BG2, IWD and ESPECIALLY IWD2

Really wish they could have made it better. Pathfinding was the absolute worst thing about those games and could get VERY frustrating, i.e., not fun.

I find it hard to before pathfinding can't be done right these days.

Of course, running into traps is more general ai related than pathfinding, this can be intentional or something going wrong with the checks.

Speaking of, I would love to see a RPG with great AI, where your companions have their own quirks and personalities. They don't follow you blindly but hang around you bantering, talk to nearby NPC, suddenly disappearing to do some shady deal and returning without armor when you so nothing, etc

Coming later today along an update…unless Badler has an accident or something.

Thanks for the info. I actually just was looking for this yesterday, sort of concerned that I maybe missed how to get my key as a backer. Anyway, super cool stuff. I love Obsidian. They do amazing work despite all the bugs and issues.

I'm going to wait a month or so to play anyway, so they can patch it further. Plus…BLOODBORNE!!! I'm putting on my console noob hat and playing nothing but Bloodborne for weeks! Good times.

Sounds like a bug; once the trap is 'known' they should make all attempts to avoid.

thanks! btw lnk doesn't work.
The link did work for me but was very slow loading. It seems Obsisian is doing some maintenance work on the website so it will provably be down for a while.
Scheduled Downtime

We are busy gathering our party before venturing forth. You know how in-depth this process can be… We'll be back soon!

Their scheduled downtime message is amusing. I don't remember it being that before though...

I have to say as a early backer I'm disappointed in how they have handled this.

They have treated the kickstarter backers as people who just preordered the game, actually, people who preorder can already download it.

Usually companies let it out to the backers a little early as a thank you, these guys make it sound like we should be thanking them.

It was opening pre-load today or waiting for tomorrow night. They are in the process of updating people's account with their keys now, check your emails.

It might be a slight over look on their part, though I do agree with the fact that the people that help fund the game should be treated a bit better.

I think all will be forgotten if the game is as good as we are hoping.

That's not the only thing, they should have made it available before general public has it...even a day early as a thank you...instead I feel like I preordered it on steam.
