Game Maker's Toolkit analyzes role-playing in Fallout: New Vegas:

Role-playing games are, funnily enough, about playing a role. The best games offer many opportunities to support the character you've built - whether it's a silver-tongued villain or a benevolent gunslinger. Let's look at how that works in a stand-out quest from 2010's Fallout: New Vegas.

Great analysis. Even playing so much of the game, I hadn't even seen a couple of these possible dialogue exchanges.

Unfortunately, the video sapped my resolve to bother finishing Fallout 4 - often, you'll find that your four [already limited] dialogue options in this latest installment are all the same and result in exactly the same response. It's depressingly shallow.
