Just head to gog to add it to your account before February 13, 1:59 PM GMT.

Head to Kickstarter to support the sequel while downloading your FREE copy of CONSORTIUM

GOG.com and Interdimensional Games Inc. joined forces and managed to secure a 48-hour time-pocket within which we can distribute as many FREE CONSORTIUM: The Master Edition copies as we like all over Earth! But this disturbance was triggered by another, equally interesting event: CONSORTIUM: The Tower, the sequel to the choice-driven sci-fi simulation, is on Kickstarter and you can help it become a reality with your support! So grab your free GOG copy before February 13, 1:59 PM GMT and then go for a tour through CONSORTIUM: The Tower. Or go at it the other way around. As within the games, the choice is entirely up to you.
...
The Kickstarter campaign for CONSORTIUM: The Tower ends February 20th.
More information.

Yow, that's quite a game to be giving away for free!

Even if you aren't interested, you really should get the game. The way GOG does sales makes having more games a good thing.

They are desperate. But they won't make it. The KS was a failure.

Sad indeed. Looks like their dream won't come true. :(

How convenient. I missed the Daily Deal on Steam some days ago.

I don't think that free games without any condition solve the problems of a failing KS campaign.

Consortium is an excellent innovative game. Its relatively short, but offers plenty of replay value. The game is very reactive to your choises and it doesn't hold your hand. This is basicly like a pilot episode for a great scifi series.

Sad thing that the state of their kickstarter campaign doesn't look very good.

Kickstarters certainly seem to be a lot more difficult to pull off successfully nowdays… These guys for instance have already delivered a good game and proven themselves. And user comments in steam / gog are generally quite postive as well. Maybe they're just asking too much.

Not sure if giving away such a fine game freely is the best way to go, but hopefully the added publicity will help.

The problem is they're asking for the money they need to make the kind of game they'd like to make. They've made 143k, which is actually quite decent for an indie rpg. The Banner Saga asked for 100k, Battletech for 250k, and those were not from small unknown studios. Consortium is asking for more money than a lot of successful Kickstarter games have made. For example Darkest Dungeon raised something like 300k, and Faster than Light, The Dwarves, Chaos Reborn, or Dead State, raised even less. Those games probably asked for much less than needed for their development costs. It seems to me that Kickstarter is not the right platform if you want to pay for a decent size team to develop a game. Its a good platform to generate interest for a game and to pay for the end of a development process.

Just for comparison: The original Consortum asked for 50k (10% of what the Tower is asking for) and made 70k (The Tower has already more than doubled that.)

As I recall, the original Consortium also had two Kickstarters. One which failed - they then relaunched, asked for less money and scraped to the finish line. I'm guessing something similar will happen here.

And yeah, what others said - Consortium is a really nice game, especially if you play it without excessive load/saving. Immersive and with lots of meaningful choices. Would be sad if it stopped there.
