The Codex specialist for RPG classics Deuce Traveler has reviewed Battlespire:

Deep lore, fun character creation, clunky combat, and game-breaking bugs that constantly disrupt the experience. That's right, it's time for another Elder Scrolls review. Thanks Deuce Traveler!

I love the game, because you have to be a real Battlemage to beat it.
I played the original when it came out and I don't remember many crashes.

my favorite thing about this game at the time was that great image on the "box." never could get into it much since it never worked well on my system. i had gotten daggerfall free with pc gamer magazine subscription (gosh those were the days) and was an "elder scrolls nut" at the time before there was such a thing. just the concept of battlespire seemed really lame compared to daggerfall at the time, and the game was disappointing. and in 1998, something like baldur's gate came out, and boom, that's all she wrote.
