Dishonored 2 - Performance Issues

@DSOGaming Dishonored 2 has been getting some flak for some performance issues. Arkane is in the process of identifying the issue.

According to Harvey Smith, co-creative director at Arkane Studios, the development team is currently investigating the PC performance issues that have been reported by those who have already played the game.

Regarding the Day-1 patch for Dishonored 2 that has been reported, Harvey Smith claimed that most of the stuff that will be featured in the Day-1 patch for consoles is already present in the PC version.

According to some users, the game is plagued with performance issues - even on Low settings - due to TXAA. TXAA is a really demanding AA solution and as some gamers discovered, this AA option is enabled even on the game's Low preset setting.

Played that for one hour last night (after Tyranny). The performance drops are very localized so far. For example, looking through a door at the throne room gives me 10-15FPS, but once I start to enter the room the FPS start to climb up despite the scene to render not changing much.

I'm going to tablet that and play Tyranny, by then the dev should have fixed whatever is causing problem.

One of the problems I read was that Dishonored 2 keeps setting the CPU priority to low.

From what I understand, you can set it to high and get a boost, but it keeps reverting. Hopefully they can patch that soon. I haven't bought it even though I really enjoyed the first.

I'm sure there is a low specs review guy out there somewhere. If not maybe that is something someone could do. Many of the popular twitch people are running over built rigs.

So, it appears that you need to keep V-Sync on if you want stable FPS. I would have to restart the game to see what happens in the early section because I only tried it once I reached Karnaca, but since doing that FPS have been pretty stable on High (auto setting the game set for my rig).

I've continued Civ6 and put DH2 on pause. Arkane promised performance/controls patch very soon so I just can't be arsed to "hack" the system just in order to make the game enjoyable.

I didn't hack anything though, the game had V-sync on by default. I just have the habits of turn it off because it negatively impacted a few games I played in the past.

I do expect that the game is fantastic. But only after some serious patching.
