Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor - Martyr Video

The 40k universe has so much potential for absolutely awesome computer games. An action RPG where you can play only as an inquisitor? Nope, that's not it...

I would prefer more RPG and less A, but this still sounds very promising. Let's hope it doesn't become boring fast and that the "online/MMO" features are inobstrusive.

I thought I read that there will be three classes to choose from.

I don't have very high expectations after watching some gameplay footage though. It looks like a Diablo clone style of gameplay which is disappointing to me. I wish they had at least went with a third-person view like Warhammer Space Marine.

I expect another fifty patches with a final edition to be released two years later.:p

Never the less this game has my interest.

It is actually looking more promising to me then I was expecting. You can see they are trying to actively compete with D3 by having seasons. Adding free content is key to keeping people around long enough where they will pony up the money for expansions. Warhammer 40k is, as you say, a big enough setting where they shouldn't run out of content. Does the publisher have deep enough pockets to keep servers running and development flowing? Hopefully they have a plan, there are a lot of ARPG fans.

Maybe one day,we will get that open world story based Warhammer game done like a W3 or Elder Scrolls.

I remember reading a few years back that EA, or THQ was interested in making an RPG. Though THQ is now gone and EA has dropped all interest to focus on other games.

The 40k games I would most like to see is probably a grand strategy one, something like GalCiv (but with turn based combat please) or maybe an open world RPG although I can't quite think of HOW that would be possible within the confines of that universe. A strategy game would make more sense. (Like how Warhammer:Total War turned out pretty decent. But I've always had more love for 40k.)

I wish d&d would try to do these sort of procedural maps. Then we could have unique encounters/quests each time. Combine it with a smart ai routine, improvised natural language and authored quests and the attempt would at least be interesting.

Every game in the WH universe has my attention. WH40K more than fantasy. Although, I even played Warhammer Quest for longer than is healthy and have Man-O'-War, which was a bit bland at the time, but definitely has potential.

I really liked the focus on individual troops and their development in Dawn of War 2. It was basically a kind of ARPG. So Inquisitor could go a step further in that direction with adding a few more RPG elements.
If first reviews are favorable, I will most certainly give this a whirl!

GW have licensed their IP quite a lot lately. As a result, mediocre products.

Even though they relaxed the norms in their universe, it still suffers from the same issue for declining it to other products: it is rigid.

Assassin, inquisitor are of the few options to provide the required flexibility for a single agent to act. Everything else is regimented.

Space Marines are people's favourites and fluffwise, it is not possible to make a PC from a SM. The life is devoted to the emperor, leisure activities are abnormal and dangerous as an opening to Chaos.

Really looking forward to this. These guys make good games. Van Helsing was better than D3 and POExile but not as good as grim dawn.

Procedurally-generated games seem to get old really fast. Not sure I'd stick with it long enough to recoup the purchase cost.

Agreed, I actually enjoyed Dawn of war 2 quite a bit, and the expansion as well (I could finally play as the Eldar!).

I also agree with Chien, it would be impossible to make something like an Open world RPG in the WH40k setting, it's just not feasible. There's very little "adventuring" to be had in that universe. Strategy titles seems like a much more natural direction, but maybe a party based RPG could work.

What I would like to see is a game where I could play as any of the factions, and not "just" Space Marines or Empire...

Not that bold as that is the fairly standard opinion. Of course, being better than D3 or Exile is not that high of a bar.

No it isnt. Youre comparing apples to oranges. PoE and D3 are online-only.
