@GamePressure The Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord developers took to their forums to discuss the game and the recent progress made. It seems there is a while to wait yet until release.

It's still too early to talk about the release date of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, said the game's community manager Frank Elliot (a.k.a. Captain Lust) on the forums after well over four years since its original announcement in September 2012. While the development progress is rather steady, there is still lot of things the team at TaleWorlds have to do.

One of the things they are currently working on is combat. The focus is to make it "look and feel great in every sense". Elliot also confirmed that the game is still goining to have permadeath and aging features, however, no more details have been given on that.
More information.

Yea, like anyone thought they're working on a story.

The game is more tell your own story than authored story. It suits this style of game and the combat in this is fun. Super looking forward to sieges.

*sigh*

This has been going on since so long. I wish they could do like they did for the first game and have a playable beta.

Yes, and this style is also well suited to permadeath and aging. Sounds real good to me.

That was true for the first game. For this one there was a story campaign announced somewhen.

Maybe not.

It might have changed but for long, devs alluded to telling a story without hinting at a campaign.

They failed to include in the previous a historical background as they wanted. History was supposed to be. Like a history of places, fiefs were owned by families, fiefs were lost to another family, hence a source for quarrels that could drive the PC's involvement in one direction or another.

As a result, the storytelling is changed: it is about getting involved in a world that has specific stories.

Story is supposed to be very loose and they still aim to give u the open world experience like in the first M&B.

My guess is that story will unfold like in Viking Conquest DLC.
