White Wolf has partnered with Focus Home Interactive to work on Werewolf: The Apocalypse.

White Wolf is pleased to announce its partnership with Paris-based video game publisher Focus Home Interactive for a licensed PC and console game set in the World of Darkness.

The partnership between Focus Home Interactive and White Wolf Publishing concerns the adaptation of a video game based on the acclaimed Werewolf: The Apocalypse. The game will be developed by the game development studio Cyanide (Styx: Master of Shadows, Blood Bowl, Call of Cthulhu...). In the game you will become a Garou, a rage-fuelled Werewolf warrior opposed to urban civilization and the destruction it brings. The Garou are born to fight the corruption of The Wyrm, a powerful supernatural force leading us towards an inevitable Apocalypse.

"The world is dying. When will you Rage? The core question of Werewolf: The Apocalypse is more relevant today than ever before and the cooperation with Focus and Cyanide will finally give gamers the opportunity to revel in the raw power and primal spirituality of the Garou. What is the price of saving the world with fang and claw? Find out for yourself as we explore the darkest corners of a dying planet.", says Martin Ericsson, Lead Story Teller of White Wolf.

"We are pleased to partner with White Wolf to bring Werewolf: The Apocalypse to life in a video game for consoles and PC. We are excited to work on the World of Darkness universe, as this is formidable playground to tell the players a great story. We are also happy to partner with Cyanide Studio in this adventure - they are behind the original wish to adapt this universe, and we are faithful in their ability to create a game that will please both fans of World of Darkness and newcomers", says Cédric Lagarrigue, President of Focus Home Interactive

"The World of Darkness universe has always attracted creatives with a strong passion for telling dark and immersive stories. So to work closely with the great talent at Focus Home and Cyanide exploring the Werewolves of this universe is an absolutely fantastic experience for us at White Wolf and we are more than excited to see this great IP realised in a video game", says Tobias Sjögren, CEO of White Wolf.

More information about this adaptation will come at this year's Focus Home Interactive event, "le What's Next de Focus", taking place in Paris on February 1st and 2nd.

Do we know what kind of game it will be?

Anyway, this sounds good and could be pretty awsome!

If it will be similar to tabletop, it will be a game of Gods walking amongst men until the moment men come with silver bullets :D

The Work of Darkness is no more. The WoD used to be a meta world, with a metaplot running parallelly to the real world. WW's big sstrength was their capability to read a period in history, make it their own and carve a game out of it.
This ended when they rebooted the franchises.

Cyanide seems to specialize in acquiring declining IP.

Hardly gods. Especially in Apocalypse as the central thematics is about a dying species and a war that is about to be lost.

Gods indeed. They can shrug off most damage except sustained fire from multiple capable sources. And they can kill most threats in 1-2 rounds (including Vampires that are not very old). In addition to that humans have a subconscious fear of them which leads them to explain any encounters with Garou as something else including camera footage and similar stuff.

Only Supernatural threats are any threat to them. Add to that they travel in packs, they got access to magic and can use dimensional travel to travel to or away from most places… yea they are Gods amongst men.

Now I understand why that Werewolf in VTM-Bloodlines was so baddass. :)
That was a elder Werewolf probably, those are really scary :D (some even learned to not be vulnerable to silver ).

But we never meet a pack of Werewolves which is even more scary and it is what would be most common encounter if you are meeting one outside their area (which means they are on a mission).
As a Vampire what is worse than a Werewolf coming at your from a distance is a werewolf in human form standing next to you :D
Considering they change form very fast you don't want to be in such a situation... also most werewolves kill vampires on sight unless they need them for something.

Also while Werewolves are big scary monsters they are basically good guys, they don't kill humans if they can avoid it (or humans are attacking them) and generally try to do good.
Well except for the clans that don't do that, but the game needs antagonists of course in addition to Wyrm and its creatures.

Reads like encounters made while playing the masquerade.
Few groups are aware of each other in the WoD. Vampires as werewolves are not supposed to know of each other. They stay tales for each other.

Now players know of the world more than their avatars and want crossovers. It is recommanded that vampires, when they meet werewolves, meet formidable foes. The same happens when werewolves meet vampires.

Werewolves are hardly gods. The Apocalypse was a story of despair. If they were godlike, werewolves would not be in such a dire situation. Many succumb to mental conditions as they are overwhelmed by the dreams of the end of times.

The delirium is also affected by the incoming times, the enemy's strategy includes weakening it as it is known that an awakened humanity makes a short work of werewolves.

As to only supernatural threats, it is tricky: werewolves are supernatural, anyone going after them is aware of the existence of supernatural things and will seek supernatural weapons (fetishes, bone charms etc)
A werewolf, even in gabro/crinos form, wont survive a collision with a freight train.
High caliber weapons are known to kill werewolves. Pentex, that use commonly human agents as security guards, are used to it.

Last point: werewolves can not change form that easily. It is stressing, takes time and this can be used to kill them.

Seems like a good move from Cyanide and White Wolf. Many people will be interested in the game who know the IP, but it won't bear the weight of expectations that would come with a new Vampire game. While I like what Cyanide has done with Blood Bowl, their rpgs so far have been entertaining but forgettable. I really hope this one, as well as the Cthulu game. will be is better.

The question is: Will we play a werewolf or fight them? Anyway, I'll keep an eye on this.

Only interested if I get to be a werewolf myself :) Will certainly keep an eye on the game though as it sounds interesting and different.
