This is a long one, so just head to the bottom for the links if you just want to get under way. CD Projekt Red and Atari have released The Witcher's latest v1.3 update, the D'Jinni editor and a free module titled The Price of Neutrality. Here's the PR and links:
Atari today announced the release of the D’jinni beta adventure editor and Price of Neutrality adventure together with patch 1.3 for The Witcher. The first official adventure and patch 1.3 are available for free download via www.thewitcher.com, with a separate free download available containing the D’jinni beta adventure editor. The adventure editor requires the latest game patch installed. We have also launched the site, where gamers may add or download their adventures.

“CD Projekt has always been oriented to gamers’ needs, so releasing an adventure editor for the modding community is an obvious move. It’s quite a demanding tool, however, and it will bring loads of satisfaction to many of the fans. After all, we made The Witcher with this tool,” said Adam Kiciñski, CEO, CD Projekt RED. “We’ve also prepared the first official mod with a completely new adventure which will be available to download for free.”

The Price of Neutrality is the first official adventure from the team at CD Projekt and features around two hours of gameplay during which the player is introduced to the other witchers in more detail following their brief appearance in the original game. Populated with new NPC’s and other new graphical assets, the adventure takes the player into the little explored outskirts of Kaer Morhen in a compelling story with tough decisions and more than one possible ending. The adventure text is localised among all in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Polish. In the same download, patch 1.3 readies the game for playing the new adventure.

The English language D’jinni beta adventure editor will let fans craft complete new adventures for Geralt using the existing graphical assets, maps and environments in the game. By creating new stories, cut-scenes, graphical effects, dialogue and gameplay actions, users of the adventure editor can let their imaginations run wild predicting the turmoil and tests waiting in Geralt’s future, or even filling in the missing years between the close of Andrzej Sapkowski’s last Witcher novel and the start of the game.

Patch notes said:
WARNING! The Witcher 1.3 Module Edition is only partially compatible with saved games from previous versions (1.0, 1.1a, 1.2). Loading older saved games is still possible but may lead to unexpected behavior and other problems. The players are advised to restart the game from the beginning using The Witcher 1.3 Module Edition.

No luck, sorry.

Thanks for that, since I haven't yet finished the game, I won't load the update. I'm too close to the end to start all over again!! :)

How is the editor, and is there any possibility of Multiplayer or standalone serverness?

What about the special edition due next month. Will this yet again require restarting the game? In that case I don't see much purpose bothering with this patch, unless you want to try out the editor and the standalone adventure.

TW Enchanced Edition is for those who haven't bought TW already. Patch 1.3 (which includes Price of Neutrality module) is for those who have the game.

Depends on what do you mean by "uncut" I suppose. English dialogue as never censored as such but, according to devs, they have expanded dialogue a bit and fixed some of the more glaring translation issues.

If I remember correctly they would re-record the dialogue to reflect the original script which were cut the first time around due to budget restraints. This was to be part of the special edition (and of course in a patch for people who already bought the game). I just wasn't sure if this was the 'special edition' patch. I figured it would be released simultaneously with the special edition.

And what Stealth just said is probably why it requires a game restart. And for everyones' information, it really does. I just tried it out a few hours ago. Things seemed to be working fine in Chapter 3 until Thaler started babbling about something that made absolutely no sense. I am so peeved about having to restart, but oh well, guess it'll save me money from buying another RPG for six months.

Maybe I am misunderstanding you but this is not correct. This patch does not include the Enhanced Edition content (new English dialogues, new voice recordings, 50 new character models and so on). This patch adds compatibility for the editor and some miscellaneous fixes.

I would *guess* (and I'm only guessing) that the EE version would require a restart (different dialogues alone might change things), so I'm holding off on this one myself.

Every patch for a game that needs a total restart of that game is just the result of bad programming, IMHO. I just finished chapter 1 of this game (and will have to do it now again, bah, too much cutscenes, here I come), and I really don't understand why The Witcher would need a restart.

Thaler babbling something that doesn't make sense? That sounds like a feature of the original game ;). There was one dialog in chapter 3 where I tried both nonsensical answers to a nonsensical question, without getting the wiser from the procedure. This was with (the old) patch 1.2.

The announcement sounded more like the usual precaution sentence. I guess that they don't expect the patch to break much, but in case it does anyway, they can claim that they warned you.

Yeah, that is a translating issue which I wrote about at TW forums:

"Returning to Thaler's dialogue tree. I have finally installed Polish language with my UK game and now I can tell for sure that it's a case of bad translation:
In Polish, Thaler's first line is: "Jakies problemy?" which should have been translated as "Any problems"? If it was, Geralt first answer "Yes" and rest of the branch would make sense.

Geralt's second option: "Dziekuje, wszyscy zdrowi" is a Polish idom which translates most closely into ironic "Nobody died" rather than half-assed "They're all safe" but, since quite a few people have died, I would translate it into "Nothing I can't cope". Now the Thaler's aswer: "I am glad" as well as the rest of the dialogue in this branch makes sense too"
