The Early Access version of the dungeon management game Legend of Keepers is now available:

Legend of Keepers

In this original mix of Dungeon Management and Roguelite, you will lead your career as a Dungeon Master!

Features

  • Join the Dungeons Company and climb the corporate ladder
  • Crush so-called "heroes" and protect the company's treasures
  • Hire monsters, manage your employees and your stock of traps
  • Deal with employee strikes and other fun events
RogueDefender
Each run will be different but players will keep some of their Master's bonuses between runs. Like we've already mentioned, our game is a mix between Roguelite and Dungeon Management. How did we achieve that? By running many tests to find the perfect balance between management and dungeon phases!

Dungeon Phase
First, you will have to plan your defense against a group of adventurers. Check their stats and resistances, then place the best traps and monsters to defeat them! When you think your dungeon is ready, let the crawl begin!

You will then be able to watch those heroes die! It's a reversed dungeon crawler: heroes will move through your dungeon and will trigger the traps you placed. When a group of adventurers encounters a group of monsters you positioned in your dungeon, a turn-based fight will happen!

Master Classes
Put yourself in the shoes of a Dungeon Master! You will be able to choose between our 3 original classes!

I just played the free "prologue", and it's actually quite fun.

Basically, you're managing a stable of monsters and collection of traps to pit against invading adventurers. If they make it thru your minions and devices, you must fight the adventurers (what's left of them) yourself.

While it does slap on a thick coat of Dungeon Inc., the gameplay is very metal

Yeah I finished the prologue and it has definite potential. It's not there yet, but it's more a matter of tweeks and balancing then needing to totally rework mechanics. Developing your stable of enemies and traps was interesting and so was adjusting it based on the adventuring party coming your way. Though I eventually came up with a basic no risk strategy that wiped any party.

I've always been interested in the idea of a dungeon management game. There have been several attempts, but I never thought any of them really captured the feel. For example Dungeon Keeper was fun at times but it really just felt like an underground RTS. Legend of Keepers comes the closest I've seen to scratching that itch, but it remains to be seen what they can pull off.
