Ye Old Entertainment helps us decide whether Encased is the game for us. Heads up, there are some spoilers, this is actually more an early retrospective than a review.

Encased a sci-fi post-apocalyptic rpg a la Fallout review. Scratching your Fallout New Vegas itch?

Encased is a sci-fi post-apocalyptic rpg that tries too hard to be little bit of Fallout and a little bit of Xcom, but the thing it tries the hardest is not to displease anyone at all. Does it succeed in any of these things?

Perhaps you can't pit Encased against Fallout New Vegas and Wasteland 3, but you can fairly compare it Underrail and Atom RPG, and although this title makes an early very impressive statement... it falls apart after eight hours or so, check the video to know all about it.

He's not wrong about the skill points being given away too easily in the 2nd half of the game, though he exaggerates it somewhat (I suppose it's what he means by "opportunity cost", I haven't played Underrail).

When I played the EA, it was almost the opposite, it was too easy to get too specialized. In the end, it's part what they need to tune with patch #4.
