Gaming Bolt reports that Marvelous Inc has released Rune Factory 4 on Steam.

Rune Factory 4 Special is Out Now on PS4, Xbox One and PC

Travel to Selphia and help get the town back on its feet, bonding with various NPCs, venturing to dungeons and even falling in love.

Marvelous' acclaimed action RPG/farming sim Rune Factory 4 Special is now available for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It originally released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012 before being ported over to the Nintendo Switch in 2020. Now other platforms can finally experience it for the first time. Check out the release trailer below.

Like previous titles in the series, players venture to a town (in this case, Selphia) that needs help. By taking on requests from various NPCs, farming and slaying monsters in dungeons, it can be improved in a myriad of ways. There are also different companions to party up and a variety of different weapons to utilize in combat.

Along with the Newlywed Mode, which features a unique story with one's spouse, there's also the DLC "Another Episode" which includes 13 additional stories with full voice-acting and the new Hell difficulty. For more details, head here. Rune Factory 5 is also coming soon, releasing on March 22nd, 2022 for the West on Nintendo Switch.

More information.

I've played the first 3 RF on DS / 3DS but I think I've probably only finished the first one. They might appeal to people who like Stardew Valley. The thing that eventually makes them pretty tedious for me is the crafting aspect. IIRC the recipes start requiring rare ingredients so if you want to make an item you end up having to grind for it and hope a monster drops it… Some monsters may be more likely to drop an item than others.

They're the type of game you definitely want to play with a guide, but even with one it can feel pretty grindy. I suppose you could ignore the crafting for the most part but then you'll probably have to grind anyway to beat bosses. Or maybe just focus on the romance.

I played a few of these and the various spin-offs on consoles and handheld devices before, but it's been a while. Still I doubt it has a big audience on this forum.
