The old meaning maybe but the term is still used for games.

Old Meaning

A game has "Gone Gold" when the final master copy has been produced at the developer and sent off for replication, packaging and shipment.

New Meaning

In video game terms, for those who aren't aware, a game "going gold" means that it has basically finished being made; development is all but complete, and all that's left is the final stretch to the game's release.

Though physical releases still happen for consoles so the term still works.
