RPGamer reviewed the tactical RPG Miasma Chronicles:

Miasma Chronicles Review

Five-Finger Deathcount

If there are two things development studio The Bearded Ladies has come to stand for in its previous game catalog, it would have to be dedication to tactical combat and a love for post-apocalyptic storytelling. Both of these mainstays are present -- and polished to a high degree -- in its latest outing, Miasma Chronicles. Offering a deep and highly enjoyable tactical experience, with fun and engaging world-building elements applied liberally throughout, the game is a total package that may well be the studio's highest-quality RPG yet.

[...]

Miasma Chronicles is more than just a solid tactical RPG experience; it's a game that's both tongue-in-cheek fun and darkly mature, chronicling a humankind on the brink of extinction. The world-building and presentation offer much to take in and enjoy, while the combat is deep and sound, with tons of variables to constantly keep up with that can turn the tide of battle at a moment's notice. It also has quite a keen edge, and those who enjoy a firm challenge will be well-served by what's on offer. Despite a few technical hiccups in its current state, Miasma Chronicles has a lot to love, and is an easy recommendation for those wanting to scratch their next tactical itch with a game that asks much of its players, but also offers a wealth of quality in return.

I'm currently near the end of this game. What I can say is mostly positive, though the game does not come without issues. In general, I've had a positive experience, and anyone who played Mutant Year Zero, probably knows what to expect.

Some design decisions are a bit questionable like allowing free talent respecialization at any time, even between fights while in the wilderness, or cooldowns not resetting at all after combat, not even ticking down when you execute silent takedowns. But I suppose they balanced the game around those features, and in the end, everything works well enough.

The story is rather forgettable from my own perspective, the lowest point being the main character, who exhibits rather immature behavior, and not in a good way. He sounds both childish and high in unconvincing ways that do not appear intentional.

If I had to put a score to it, I'd go with 7.5/10. Fun, challenging combat, interesting gameplay mechanics, a cool setting, not-so-cool story with protagonists that are hard to relate to, or even wish for them to come out victorious.

Any group named the Bearded Ladies will always nab my full attention. I do like to see the words fun and challenging in reviews, so I might have to grab this one.

I quite liked Mutant Year Zero and will play this at some point when it is on sale; it seems over-priced at the moment.
