I have played every game on that list over the last decade multiple times. Now getting modern or younger gamer's to play might not be possible as most are lower quality.

Or as I like to call them B and C class RPGs.

It seems like this was posted twice? If not, a video from a few weeks ago was almost identical.
Some youtubers repeat video lists of GOTY games, others repeat video lists of obscure RPGs... Content rulez.

I still remember 'Kult: Heretic Kingdoms' and I thought it was a better game than many people credited it. (Metacritic has a 71 rating.) The Dreamworld mechanic was a nice feature. The biggest flaw was the near complete linearity of game play. If they'd fixed that then the game may have been better rated.

I think there was another video 2 or 3 weeks ago, but the list was shorter.

I'm almost sure I don't know any of those games...
Simp!y put it's a video series he posts maybe a few times every year. This list of course are the ones he did all year. More like a recap and don't see the problem.

Also if you never heard about most of them I...don't really know what to say...but you must have lived in a cave for over a decade, or just started playing PC RPGs.

Most of them are not that popular but have been covered on this site.

It was a decent game but just another Diablo clone amoung the vast many at the time. The developer's released a few more games under different names as well.

They all suffered the same fate though by being forgotten years later.

These are the games you really shouldn't be playing unless you have finished every other crpg available - even then your time would be better spent playing other genres...

I pretty much did live in a cave when it comes to games, so that must be it. Well, I played a few known ones, but that's all. Some names vaguely ring a bell, though.

PS: Actually, it looks like those games were in a cave and I wasn't. :ROFLMAO:

Venetica suffered from the problem - back then - that its engine was too heavy for most contemporary PCs then.

Not every game is popular or a blockbuster sometimes a gaming year is pardon the pun shit. We had quite a few years on this site were not a single good RPG released.

The landscape didn't start changing untill Kickstarter and I'm glad it did.

Drakensang I enjoyed (moreso than its more popular sequel, but I'm in the minority there). Still its probably a 7/10 on a good day released during a period where I was starved for RPGs. Dungeon Lords (collector's edition) was a mixed bag, but I felt its pros outweighed its cons and I somewhat enjoyed it. Hellgate: London had some potential and I had some fun with it, it could've been a hell of a lot better though. Pity it didn't have Diablo 3's longterm support.

Wasn't Blade of Darkness supposed to be a cult classic or something? I vaguely recall playing its demo, but never played the full game.

The main problem was most of those games were developed by unknown smaller European develepers funded by other well known European/Russian publishers.

This was well before Embracer gobbled them all up as well.

They were given 2-3 years to release a game on a small budget.

Forgotten? Unfortunately not! This must be as close to a "worst of"-list as I've ever seen of CRPGs. Except for Drakensang, of course.

Seriously (not really) though, could we come up with a proper official RPGWatch "worst of"-list one of these days, maybe even as part of the yearly vote?

Already did sometching like that before years back. I don't see the point but the Codex does one every year on their site with their rankings and weird voting method.
