Forbidden Unit is an isometric, science fiction, tactical, turn based RPG focused on four main characters. It is on Kickstarter asking for 65K and has 27 days to go.



Hi, everybody! We are very excited to present to you our latest game FORBIDDEN UNIT. Above you can find the footage from the game. It´s a 3D isometric RPG with the turn-based combat system. If you played the original Fallout, XCOM, Shadowrun or Syndicate, you know exactly where our inspiration, core game principles and our passion for games come from.

Speaking of promises I'll have to check out this KS to see how realistic those promises are.

I like the look of the gameplay, but I'm not a fan of fixed protagonists in RPGs. I can't decide whether to back it or not, I'll just keep an eye on the campaign for the minute I think.

When you say "Combat RPG" - does that mean it's more or less all combat - or do you plan on adding a meaty narrative and perhaps some exploration?
 
For some reason, I read this as chinless games :biggrin: I need to see an exploration trailer and know the variety of loot before I'll have any interest. Every single rpg game has combat so that's like saying it's a game. Will skills or stats influence dialog?

Combat is an important part of the game, but you will also spend a lot of time by conversations, exploration, smaller optional tasks, discovering more information about main characters backgrounds, and about the world itself.

however, it isn't an open-world game where you could freely travel across the world. That is unfortunately impossible to do in our small team, but you can travel between certain locations and chose which mission you want to accept.

Not all games need to be open world :)

But it sounds like there's more to it than combat, so that's nice. Thank you for the information.

yes, and all your characters have different stats, so dialog options may differ depending on which of your characters will start a conversation.

The main core of the team is made by three people.
Tomas Pavlis - main programmer, 3d artist and founder of Chainless Games

Martin Skypala - designer, story writer

Otus Hobst - Music Composer/producer, definitely check his pages http://www.otushobst.com/

Other people around this project contributes occasionally.
So as you can see, our team is actually quite thin. That's why we decided to go to Kickstarter, so we can reinforce our numbers, and finish Forbidden Unit in a meaningful time and deliver it to players in the best shape possible.

I definitely like what I'm seeing there. Even the name looks good. But presumably the opponents can fight back? Combat seemed all one-sided.

Sure, it is shorten for trailer purposes only, otherwise trailer would be much longer. :)

I tried to respond to this, but it didn't appear here... After the second time, I got a notification that it is a duplicate message... seems like my original message need some kind of approval (maybe because of included links? dunno )
