Okay that was unexpected! Thanks for linking to that. Totally my bad. For some reason I thought consoles were still in the lead as far as top gaming device. Probably biased in my opinion though since I like to blame consoles for a variety of negative (well what I see as negative) changes to games.
It does beg the question than why some companies (not just EA) seem to put so little focus on the quality of their game for a PC.
I was going to post something similar to Azarhal posted. Right now PC gaming is probably at or close to an all time high, likely due to the popularity of Steam and other digital distribution streams.
I think the reason we see less emphasis on PC ports, or more specifically mouse and keyboard interfaces, is because game companies know that many/most PC gamers probably have access to a gamepad. Therefore it is easier to just port over the console version. Let's face it - a gamepad focused game covers consoles and the PC equally, whereas the M/K is PC only, and gamepads still need further focus for the consoles. Sucks, but that is reality.
I'd prefer to play such games with a M/K, but it is what it is. At least mods can sometimes fill in the gaps, as with the Elder Scrolls games. Other times, like with Witcher 2, it's better to just give in and grab the gamepad.
