Don't pay attention to his rant about TRPG and CRPG.
About "historical accuracy": it was never the intention to re-create history so I'm not sure why he insists on this so heavily. If the game forced an historically-accurate story, there would be no choice for the player. Logic Artists made that quite clear.
He mentions that the sieges are very long, and this reminds me there is a setting to accelerate the enemy's turns, but I haven't used it. It should help a little, though I prefer Pathfinder's way (hit a key to make any turn really faster).
