Seems it's been 15 years since Sins of a Solar Empire was released and Ironclad Games have finally announced it's sequel. So here is the trailer and it's announcement.

Weird... I thought this game already existed.

I thought it existed too, mainly because I remember there being more than one release of SOASE games. I just checked and there are SOASE, SOASE: Trinity, and SOASE: Rebellion (the latter being a "stand alone expansion"), hence my confusion.
