Timothy Cain - Skill-based XP

I love hearing Tim's thoughts on stuff like this.

Colony Ship manages to have a skill based XP system that works pretty well with various builds, IMO. If I'm not mistaken you gain "XP" from both failures and successes (and successes give you more).

But if I were designing a game I'd almost certainly go with Tim's suggestion to just reward XP / skill points for completing quests regardless of how you do it. Seems so much simpler to implement and easier to balance, too.
