Damn that guy in review was annoying, yuck! 
Ultima IV was one of the first RPGs I ever played so it brings up lot of good memories. And it's still kind of a unique RPG without main villain or even plot, except become an avatar.
Ultima VII is the most versatile and perhaps the best Ultima game, but it's just too dated to start with. I'd start with U5 Lazarus or U6 Project since they look nice and still have that Ultima feel.

I have Exult as well, but unfortunately the Add-On was never translated.

Exult is supposed to run both U7 and U7.5, including the expansions. I have run both games using Exult.
