Demeo Review

Demeo is a delightful alternative to the mechanically engrossing (albeit burdensome) tabletop RPGs and board games to which it lovingly pays homage. It might not offer the same width or depth as a true RPG, and it may not satisfy a pen-and-paper purist’s love of creating and growing with their own heroes, but it’s such an enjoyably compact yet intelligently riveting experience that, if you can get past its occasional bugs, Demeo is a great introductory game for anyone who’s interested in seeing what D&D or VR is about.

Demeo: PC Edition recreates all the fun of tabletop dungeon crawling in the digital space by connecting players for table talk, treasure hunts, and plenty of turn-based action with infinite replayability.

Cross-play multiplayer lets you quest alongside players on Meta Quest, Rift, headsets that support Steam VR — as well as your fellow champions. Form a party with your friends, no matter how they prefer to play! Demeo has an extensive content map planned to ensure adventurers have a steady supply of new stories, settings, and villains to contend with.

COG reported that the non-VR version of Demeo was entering Early Access on April 7th. Demeo is a tactical / card-based RPG which can be played in coop or SP. The current version is only playable with a VR headset.

RPG DEMEO MOVES FROM VR TO PC

When it appeared on the Meta Quest and Rift, Demeo did something pretty unique. It recreated the experience of playing a tabletop RPG with your friends in VR. It was all there: the rec room, the tabletop, the miniatures–animated, of course–and a dungeon set that real life players would die for. All you needed to do was rope in three nerds with headsets and you were all set. Now, Resolution Games is bringing Demeo to PC. What’s more, it includes cross-play with the VR version.

Demeo is a turn-based RPG with classic tabletop fantasy game vibes. The layout of each dungeon is procedurally generated and each match consists of three levels with a boss at the end. Although it isn’t a deck-building game per se, Demeo does include card battle elements, with players using ability cards during their turns. Gold earned in battle is used to buy cards between levels. The PC version will include 60 cards that either deal damage, heal, or cast spells.
