Dungeonmans - New Content Released

by Silver, 14:38

Dungeonmans latest update announced some new content will release July 31st and it is now released on Steam.

Beta Updated, Full Release 31 July

The Vacation Beta has been updated with some new content, and will go from Beta to Live on Monday, 31 July. The branch password remains "loliminkalispell" though I actually returned from there weeks ago.

==> YOU CAN HELP <==
If you want to be a real pal, bang on the beta some this weekend, and drop your bugs/feedback/cat photos in the Dungeonfans Discord:
https://discord.gg/0tYnHDpQ7v9rViPD

Psychofocus
Heroes with at east one point in Psychomansy will receive a Psychofocus, a neck piece (!) that can be enchanted like any weapon, and adds its power to your fist attacks. The Psychofocus will grow in power as you add more points to Psychomansy, and will eventually grant stat increases while worn as well. You must have at least one empty hand to take advantage of these, if you have no Fists equipped the Psychofocus will lay dormant.

RIP Eager, 2014 - 2017
Eager, the gameplay breaking, game code crashing, best on every weapon forever enchant, has been retired. It will vanish off of any items currently equipped with it, and will no longer roll on random drops, scrolls, or hammers.

RIP Venomizer, 2014 - 2017
You were the trash Rangermans power we neither wanted nor deserved. Replaced with Pinomizer! Pinomizer will deal 2x bow damage and pin an enemy in place. The first time you use Pinomizer in a round, it will not cost any Action Points.

New Adventure Map Research
Research into the mysteries of the old Foomwardens continues! New items may be crafted at the Research Station:

Salford's Sealant: Select and remove a single enchantment from a piece of gear. That enchantment is then SEALED and will never appear on that item again.

Warden's Words of Fury: Fight long enough in the most dangerous Adventure Maps and you may discover a piece of Warden's Wisdom, lost knowledge that can unlock some of the most powerful rituals of war. Completing the Research Station recipe involved will net you to choose from a list of exceptionally powerful weapon enchants, each based on a particular type of weapon and suited to that weapon's gameplay.

Bugs Fixed And Cool Stuff

  • Drink the Typhoon has improved visual/audio effects.
  • Rings no longer show broken/wrong prefixes.
  • Character sheet mouseover for Defeat Block and Defeat Parry are now correct.
  • Skills and Foom stat description updated.
  • Holy shit the alt-tab texture bug might be gone finally.
  • Cut down on Banner Spam in the combat log.
  • Enchant item scrolls move equipped items to the top of the list.
  • Closing a Use Item on Equipment window without using the power should no longer fizzle away the source item.

Dungeonmans - New Update & Sale on Steam

by Couchpotato, 05:45

You guys may recall a game called Dungeonmans that was released back in December by developer Adventurepro Games. They sent us news today about a new version.

loading...

Last December, Adventurepro Games released our first title “Dungeonmans” for PC/Steam, after a successful Kickstarter and Early Access debut. This lighthearted-yet-challenging Roguelike was met with praise from our fans (9/10 on Steam!) and critics (Kotaku, IndieRPGs, RPGFan, Modvive) alike for its deep character customization, tactical combat, visual & audio polish, and metagame progress.

Today, the game is part of the Steam Roguelike sale (25% off through April 27th), sporting all sorts of improvements and new content since the v1.0 release! With a sale price of just $11.24, the game is a great deal and chock-full of content. Here are just a few things we’ve added since the game released on December 9, 2014.

New Features

- A new post-game adventure! The Amaranth Pandemonium offers an endless (?!) descent through a unique dungeon with ever-increasing difficulty and the new Glorious item system

- Over 50 new items, including a totally new tier of armor and weapons!

- Hero retirement! High-level Dungeonmens can retire to teach at the Academy, open a tavern in the countryside, or just pass the mantle of heroism on to a new graduate and wander the world as a freelance adventurer.

- New shops and town improvements! Spend your hard-earned coin at Foomingdale’s, Aim Low, Ranger Danger, and other specialty shops.

- Redesigned and enhanced skills, such as Dungeon Dervish and Dual Wielding - use the new Tempo system to chain attacks into an ever-intensifying whirling dance of destruction!

- Full Gamepad support and new Steam Cloud saves!

- Numerous balance changes, bug fixes, and UI improvements!

- The King of Thieves gives your stolen items back when you kill him. Honest!

If you haven’t played Dungeonmans yet, here are some of the core features that have been in the game from the start.

Original Features:

* Turn-based, old-school Roguelike adventure glistening with polish

* Over 100 nasty and unique monsters to fight, plus champions + bosses

* Free form character building with 60+ abilities

* Sprawling procedurally generated world with an array of dungeon types

* Metagame progress through the Dungeonmans Academy system

* 50+ minutes of original orchestral music styled after 16/32-bit RPGs

Dungeonmans - Review @ Twinfinite

by Couchpotato, 02:28

Chaz Miller of Twinfinite played Dungeonmans, and gave the game a score of 2/5.

All in all, there’s certainly some fun to be had with Dungeonmans. It’s got an amusing feel to it, and while the play isn’t especially great, it’s functional and there’s plenty of space to explore. Recovering from the death of a Dungeonmans is as simple as drumming up a new one, repeating the character creation process to try a different angle. I’m not sure I’d say it’s worth the normal $14.99 price tag on Steam, sales (such as the $11.99 as of this writing) may make it worth a try, but I’d say waiting for a deeper discount during one of the inevitable Steam themed sales would be the way to go.

So as you see he did not like the game. What about you RPGWatch members?

Dungeonmans - Video Preview @ IndieRPGs

by Couchpotato, 06:08

Craig Stern of IndieRPGs was given a copy of the recently released Dungeonmans from the games developer Adventurepro Games, and posted a video preview of his impression.

loading...

Dungeonmans is the rare case where I both ended up playing a lot more of the game than I was able to show in the video, and did so before I made the video. Consequently, I went into the video with some very firm opinions about it already in place.

I’d dearly love to see Dungeonmans get the sort of ongoing development and incredible wealth of content that older, more mature roguelikes have received, but I’ll understand if Jim Shepard wants to move on to other things. While Dungeonmans could benefit from more development, frankly, the game doesn’t need it–right here and now, Dungeonmans is a fantastic roguelike. What Dungeonmans needs, really, is for you to go buy it.

Dungeonmans - Releases Today

by Aubrielle, 08:23

Dungeonmans, a top-down roguelike dungeon crawler, officially releases today on Steam.  It seems to have already won a lot of renown in the retro RPG fandom.

YTrCzhII2G85A

Crush monsters and get loots in the classic turn-based style of deep dungeons and high adventure! Serious gameplay surrounded by a light-hearted atmosphere, designed to evoke the feel of history's great RPGs and dice-slinging adventures around the tabletop.

  • True roguelike adventure: turn-based, tough but fair, countless combat options.
  • More than 75 unique player abilities.
  • 12 different styles of Dungeons and Battlefields with more on the way.
  • Six class archetypes to mix and match.
  • 50+ enemies, including the fearsome Triger!
  • The Dungeonmans Academy, your home base that grows with each play.
  • A world-class soundtrack brimming with music straight from the era of RPG classics.

In an untamed wilderness, where civilization lives in the shadow of fearsome beasts and lawless villainy, the only light against the darkness are the courageous Dungeonmens! With cunning minds, mighty thews and iron wills, these great heroes and heroines are dedicated toward exploring the unknown, taming the wild, and crushing the fiercest of beasts.

Adventure begins at the Dungeonmans Academy, an ever-growing bastion of learning that expands and evolves based on the efforts of its graduates. As heroes return from their journeys burdened by giant piles of precious loot and ancient wisdom, the Academy grows and future graduates are able to take advantage of this knowledge, starting with a leg up on their quest to avenge the bold graduates who fell in previous battles.

The vast overworld teems with adventure! There are indeed dungeons deep and plentiful, but also dripping swamps, deathless crypts, huddled warrens, forest camps of bandits and highwaymen, ancient towers ruled by powerful despots, and even more terrible dangers waiting in the darkest shadows. A Dungeonmans rises to the challenge with a healthy mix of Skills and Masteries, fighting up close, at range, with steel and spell alike. Unfettered by "class restrictions", a Dungeonmans chooses the right tools for the battles ahead.

Dungeonmans - Videos and Digital Tier

by Myrthos, 12:32

Galaad writes in to let us know of the latest Kickstarter update for Dungeonmans (currently at $21K out of an asked $35K) about a new digital tier with alpha access, new let's play videos and user feedback.

Multiple people have asked about a tier where they can get Alpha access without needing to buy in for the (awesome) physical copy of the Dungeonmans soundtrack. This is a fine idea, especially for monster crushers outside of the USA who would be forced to pay extra for shipping.

I've introduced the DIGITAL EXPLORER tier which will get you into the Alpha as well as provide you with a PDF copy of the Dungeonmans Almanac! Perfect for those of you who want set out into the earliest Dungeonmans experience but like to pack light.
