Gheldia - Development Update

It has been awhile since I posted anything about the Zelda inspired game Gheldia, and I have to say it happens to me often as I cover to many games each week.

The first news of interest was a new video from a few months back.

The second item of interest was about the game getting Greenlit on Steam.

Gheldia has been officially Greenlit on Steam! We are incredibly thrilled about this opportunity and would like to extend a huge thank you to the community for their support. To everyone who stopped by our booths, shared our updates/screenshots, and spread the word – we appreciate it very much! The game’s development has been a long winding road but the vision has always been clear – create an RPG that pays homage to the 16-bit classics with a mix of new ideas. We feel that with each passing week we are marching closer to that goal and can’t wait to share off our latest developments. The next few months will be very exciting!

Gheldia - Release Date Update

It has been a while since I posted news on Gheldia. Well thats ends now as the developer Hunt Game Studios announced the games release date on Steam.

Release Date Update - Spring 2014

While it is unfortunate, we have decided to push the release of Gheldia back to Spring 2014. There are many factors involved but ultimately we do not want to compromise on content or quality. This means that the demo slated for December is also postponed to next year. Once we have more definite dates they will be posted. In the meantime, we will continue to post game development updates. Gheldia - Interview @ PowerLeveled

PowerLeveled interviews the lead Designer/Creator of Gheldia from Hunt Game Studios.

Steve: Is there a single main character? Or do you have multiple?

Phillip: Lor, who is the main character in this, is the only character so there is no multiplayer or character creation. Lor is not a silent protagonist, so he actually talks and most of the story is revealed through actually talking to NPCs and reading journals and things like that. So if people want to go and get more of the story or the lore they can seek out and interact with those events instead of having traditional cut scenes that lay everything out.

Steve: So it’s a lot like a traditional JRPG like Final Fantasy where you have to go around and actually talk to people to get story instead of it being handed to you?

Phillip: Exactly. I like the style where, depending on player interaction, you drive the story without everything being handed to you. There are no waypoints or anything like that either. So it’s really about what you want to do which is why you can select which weapons you want, you can select the order of the levels, talk to as many people as you want. I like that style of player choice so that’s what I wanted to do.

Gheldia - A 16-bit Zelda RPG

Gheldia is a new RPG from Hunt Game Studios, and can be described as a 16-bit Zelda style RPG. So give it a look if your itching for a new old school Zelda game.

Gheldia is a 16-bit inspired 2-D Adventure RPG. You journey as Lor to the Isle of Aria in search of a terrifying Beast Lord released during the Black Awakening. Lor is a "Slayer", a special brand of mercenary with the ability to harness monster power and use it to turn the tide of battle. You must guide Lor through the dangers of the island to unlock the Serpentine Spire where the final showdown will take place. Do you have what it takes to become a legendary Slayer?
