Requiem: Bloodymare - Review @ MMORPG

by Myrthos, 23:18

MMORPG.com reviewed the horror based Requiem: Bloodymare and came to a score of 6.5.

There's no doubt that Requiem is different. It breaks away from the typical MMORPG setting, and offers itself to players who are looking for a more realistically detailed game. The game's equipment, possession, and class systems offer great new experiences to a classically styled MMORPG, but feel lackluster and limited in their current implementation. The greatest concern, however, seems to be the harsh experience penalties to players without a premium subscription or experience boost from the item mall.

Requiem has a passionate community behind it, and clearly has potential to become a better, more fun MMO. With a large game update designed to enhance leveling and class balance planned for a September 24th release, Requiem could be taking steps in the right direction to take it from being average to being great.

Requiem: Bloodymare - Review @ Cheap Gamer

by Dhruin, 20:36

The Cheap Gamer writes in to point out their review of Requiem: Bloodymare.  There's no score but they call it "largely fun to play"; here's the intro:

Requiem: Bloodymare is a gruesome game. Occasionally a title comes along that lets gamers live out their most violent fantasies. Put your grandmother in front of any of the Grand Theft Auto games, and she'll be running over fellow elderly, capping cops, and committing other disturbing acts quicker than you'd think. Requiem bills itself as a horror massively multiplayer game, but it's really more a showcase of the grotesque. And that's fine. Created by Gravity Corporation, the same developer responsible for Ragnarok Online, Requiem signifies a serious change in stylistic direction for the developer.

Requiem: Bloodymare - More Screenshots @ RPG Vault

by Woges, 01:08

RPG Vault continue their screenshot series.

Requiem: Bloodymare is a massively multiplayer title set in a cursed land where fearsome, misshapen monsters prowl by day, and even more formidable ones by night. In Gravity Interactive's horror-themed endeavor, which is rapidly nearing the start of live service, the grim, dark, gory gameworld and the diverse manifestations of evil inhabiting it are the result of almost unfathomable scientific and magical abuses. Not surprisingly, this means life is a constant fight to survive, a daily challenge even though we have access to a broad variety of useful weapons as well as a number of very powerful beast possession abilities.

Requiem: Bloodymare - Preview @ IGN

by Asbjoern, 13:08

IGN has released a preview of Requiem: Bloodymare with more criticism than praise:

Requiem: Bloodymare suffers from poor English translations in its in-game quest and help texts. This a fault often found in Eastern MMOGs ported over to the English speaking market, a fault that I find detracts from the immersiveness of an MMOG. The user interface is weak despite the great looking graphics and switching between the various chat modes was frustratingly clumsy. In-game commands which should be simple and intuitive were not. Each time I found a group, we spent time trying to invite party members and trying out variations on the /invite or /party commands with members being pretty sure that the command "had just changed."

Other hallmarks of traditional Eastern MMOGs are present in the game such as long grinds and involved quests. The unique features that give the game depth are not available until later in the game. Free to download and play, with two levels of paid subscriptions available, Requiem: Bloodymare launches June 16. The question is whether the novelty of nightmare creatures and grotesque death throes are enough of a hook to keep players grinding until they reach the unique features and the real depth of the game?

Requiem: Bloodymare - Open Beta

by Woges, 22:25

Open Beta to begin on the 15th.

The World of Ethergia beckons to worthy Temperions to challenge the horrors that walk Ethergia’s lands. An opportunity to take up this challenge is coming on May 15, 2008.

We will begin our Open Beta test on May 15, 2008 at 7pm PDT. This Open Beta test session will be open to all currently registered accounts as well as all the new Temperions that decide to join us.

All accounts and characters will be reset prior to this test session and will be placed in a new starting zone called Truba Island.

The new Requiem game client, which is available on our Client Download Section, is necessary to play during the Open Beta test.

Please note that this is still part of the beta testing process, and as such, does not fully represent the final product. Players who participate during this period may experience some lag or connection issues as we work to fine-tune and optimize our server capacity.

If you have questions, comments or wish to stay updated on the progress of the Beta Test please Register for news and notifications or check our Forums.

This is the beta client for Requiem Bloodymare, the bloodiest MMORPG ever created! Using the Havok engine, Requiem: Bloodymare brings to life a visually stunning realm where fallout from generations of scientific and mystical warfare has polluted the natural world and given birth to horribly mutated monsters. The battles between players and these grotesque creatures are rendered with intense sequences of bloody and gory graphics.

Estimated to release in Q2 2008, here is the introduction from the official website:
Requiem: Bloodymare is a massively multiplayer online game for mature audiences that pits you, the player, into a dark, violent and bloodstained world devastated by generations of scientific misuse and magic.
