Dishonored: Brigmore Witches - Review Roundup

by Couchpotato, 2013-08-15 00:14:43

Here are a few reviews for the recently released Dishonored DLC: Brigmore Witches.

Eurogamer - 9/10

The Brigmore Witches is not only as textured as the game upon which it builds, with lavish scenery and elaborate set designs that communicate a weighty sense of place. But it's also as layered, with smart, meaningful tweaks and additions to your interactive toolset, and multiple branching routes to your objectives. And, in contrast to the main Dishonored storyline, at last there's a clear, frightening and powerful antagonist. Larger and more intricate than The Knife of Dunwall, The Brigmore Witches emerges as one of the finest examples of how to not only expand a blockbuster video game, but also of how to enrich and deepen one.

IGN - 7.5/10

The Brigmore Witches doesn’t break much new ground, but the stealth-or-slaughter gameplay is as compelling as ever, as is exploring each new playground. Daud also grows into his role, with a clearer sense of purpose and momentum that helps drive the story forward. While the final confrontation with Corvo is a little disappointing, Delilah’s story is excellent and adds another facet to Dishonored’s original tale.

Kotaku - No Score

Brigmore Witches is ostensibly about Daud's journey, yes, but if you're anything like me, you'll find yourself far more enticed by the little details that make this city continue to impress, mission after mission. Play this DLC not to find out whether Corvo kills Daud, but to meet the creepy Dressmaker, and to find out who's really running the Hatters, and to gobble up every bit of optional detail and lore you can find.

The worst thing I can say about Brigmore Witches is that, as Dishonored's final piece of DLC, this is the last we might see of Dunwall—unless Dishonored's inevitable sequel takes us back to this fascinating city. She will be missed.
