Age of Conan - Interview @ ageofconan.hu

by Asbjoern, 2008-03-23 02:09:54

The official site leads to our (slow) attention that an Hungarian fansite has conducted an interview with Jason "Athelan" Stone who answers a wide range of questions. Here's something on player cities:

H: Many good things are already in the beta, but some of the features are still wait for testing. What’s going on in the beta right now? What causes you the biggest problem at the moment? How close will be the beta to the final version which will be released in May? Will there be enough time to test everything? When will you plan to give player made cities to the testers, can we expect them in the beta, or in a later patch perhaps?

JS: Player cities are already in, but not being built by the beta population, sort of turned off at the moment. MMO’s are constantly evolving and because of this there will never be „enough time” as you could go on and on for ever. The biggest problems are constantly changing as we fix something and move on to the next issue. The Beta version will eventually be the version released in May in fact probably more recent since it will have patches done after the gold masters are burned.

H: Please tell me something more about player cities. In a player city will there be a house for every player? Or we can expect, let’s say a bigger house for the classes? What kind of buildings will there be in the player made cities and in the Borderlands keeps? Will they have a strategic role or just give bonuses?

JS: There is no individual housing planned for launch. We plan to add it later down the road when we can do it with the attention it deserves. I am not going to list off all the different buildings, but they do effect bonus’s for different classes, they do all have interiors and they all have tactical advantages as far as defending from a siege.
