Wednesday has been designated Beta Journal Day at the official Lord of the Rings Online site. Here's a snippet from the latest journal:

I was just at the post office to buy stamps. For my party invitations, you understand. Not a big party, not a grand eleventy-first party, but a party nevertheless, with food aplenty washed down with the finest ale in the Shire. I took a short step out of the post office and there I was in our beautiful Shire, the Shire as it lives in all our hearts and dreams. This is the Shire of the little folk and their little houses where nothing exciting ever happens. They still drink many a pot of ale talking about that wizard's fireworks as if it were the biggest event since Ma Brandybuck burnt her Bilberry Pies.
