The rise of the virtual reality game

Virtual reality video game development is here and it goes by the name of Push for Emor, the first truly ambitious virtual reality game by a small indie developer.. We are firmly at the point where Virtual reality headsets such as the Oculus Rift are reasonably affordable and therefore represent a potentially lucrative market for game developers to tap into. Virtual realty comes around every now and again and I am old enough to remember at least two other occasions when we were told that virtual reality was going to change the face of our entire world. We would be living and meeting up in fabricated environments and while these events never came to fruition, such ideas have certainly gripped the human imagination forever. I can honestly say that we are to a point now where I think we have cracked it. It isn’t perfect. And are we going to live in virtual worlds and is it going to be like the holodeck in Star trek? In a word, No. But it does have vast potential to increase the immersion factor of the games that we play.
