Vampyr - Confounding?

by Hiddenx, 2016-04-10 10:10:03

Examiner reports that Vampyr tries to confound the gamer with a lot of exploring, secrets and many choices and consequences:

DONTNOD exclusive: Vampyr is setting up to profoundly confound RPG fans & gamers

What do you get when you take a studio that has made the games Remember Me and Life is Strange? You get something entirely different and unique, much like the aforementioned games are from each other. DONTNOD Entertainment is creating their next, new IP called Vampyr, and it will be quite different from the first two games they've created.

We've heard developers talk about wanting to do different things before, and when it comes to a creative mind, the unknown and unexpected is far more engaging than the known and expected. If there's nothing else DONTNOD's three games have in common, then it is that they are foundationally unique and original.

"It’s also about the discovery of a new world: that of the immortals, with their mysterious rules, codes and secrets. Much like our precedent games, we’re want to focus on what makes someone human: our joys, our sadness, the way we face adversity, and how we express our own free will," Beauverger said.

This won't just be a game that you cruise through without emotion or thought. Vampyr feels like it will be more real than any other game out there. "Our objective is to put players in a vampire’s shoes, and let them weigh up the pros and cons of their situation. Immortality is cool for sure, but how about killing a human every night, just to survive? How would you handle that? It’s all about choices and sacrifices, and it’s all part of the experience we’ve created in Vampyr," Moreau said.
